I wonder why they didn't put them on the configurator in the first place, might have avoided the supply/demand issue before it arose!
Interestingly the 911 GT3 RS configuratior has both options. I wonder if they are trying to save the old foldable buckets for unhappy 918 owners who want the old seats back in their track-toy GT3 RS.
Meanwhile the Cayman guys are happy they're getting the newest seats and are none the wiser until their 5 hour long trip, if the reports here are true.

Interesting - are they the same cost as the LWB then? Might make for a very sensible option to avoid the huge waits... I wonder why they didn't put them on the configurator in the first place, might have avoided the supply/demand issue before it arose!
Unfortunately was told that they would also delay the build.
Huh that's mad... I thought the issue with the LWB was an inability by the supplier to physically make enough cf seats shells in the molds each day.

Surely they cant use the same supplier for both types of bucket seats who then uses the same molds?

Will be questioning Porsche GB at the preview on Wednesday..

P11 Buckets are the "918" style GT4 buckets. LWB are light weight buckets which I believe people are suggesting are the older style folding buckets like the GT3 etc..

Are the LWB buckets non height adjustable and are they the same seats that are fitted as options to the original Cayman 'R'?

So the way I see it P11 = 987 Spyder/cr seats which are very comfortable and
P03= 918 Spyder style which are for fat boys and give Back ache
But both are priced the same.
Reading all this makes me prefer the older seat
the other way round. P11 = 918 full bucket seats, P03 = gt2 folding sportsbuckets. I think anyway

Tx for the clarification. I have tried the old 997.1 GT3RS buckets & found those too restrictive for my arms ( I am broad shouldered) so not sure about the FBS, recently tried the 991 GT3 seats which were OK though. are the GT2 FBS the same as the 991 GT3 seat? they look a bit tight up top?
Seems the consensus is the LWBS you get as standard are not so comfortable! B*gg*r & B*ll*x they look great, what to choose?

P 11 on my 987 Spyder spec refers to interior which includes the buckets which were standard and just looked at order sheets and gt2 buckets are P03.deleted previous posts to save confusion, although I am still confused as my Gt4 order says P11!

No, the LWB are light weight buckets or P11 918 style buckets. Confusingly now named "full bucket seats" by Porsche, but they are the spiritual successors to the old lightweight bucket seats hence many people seem to be calling them that (including me).

So for the avoidance of doubt:

P11 = Full Bucket Seats | 918 or GT4 Style Buckets | LWB | Lightweight Buckets ----- NOTE: These are height adjustable but do NOT fold.
P03 = Sports Bucket Seats | Folding Buckets | GT2 or GT3 Buckets -------------------- NOTE: These are NOT height adjustable but do fold.

And, yes some people are reporting that the P11 seats are uncomfortable and give lower back ache on long journeys. Not aware of anybody claiming that on P03 seats.

Now that's cleared up and if the 918 style seats are none too comfortable how do I get the P03 seats which are fitted to older cars and are in the new Spyder which are comfortable ?If its true about the former and I cannot order the latter then might save £2k and go sports seats!

Edd has gone for the more comfortable seat - Edd does not like lower back pain.

He has also elected to go with some very choice options which should add resale value. The leopardskin CTS is not one of them. Edd in retrospect wishes he'd gone Voodoo Blue.

Interesting owners review on rennspeed re the car in general and the buckets, owner complaining of serious backache after a few days driving .
I tried some regular buckets in 991 but it's a much easier car to get into and out of than the cayman ,seriously thinking of going adaptive seats as I have back issues anyway, and struggle to get in and out if the wife's boxster as it is.
I will decide shortly.
Hi, i have the gt4 with the 918 style seats. I also have back problems, and after a 2000 km drive to run the car in, i had some backache. After some examiation, it turned out that the contoured seat has the shape for the back and shoulder slightly to high for my body. What i did was to cut a piece from a sleaping mat, and put it under the cushion of the seat. It now fits perfectly for my back, and i find the seat gives good comfort. (the sleaping mat is the type you use when camping)

Thanks for the info, but to be honest having to put anything on the seat to make it comfortable is off putting for me.
They look sensational and I ordered them because they look great and I thought they are a must have option ,but I'm viewing it now as a gamble for me ,which I'm not sure I want to take.

It is not a gamble. They made the seats so that even tall people can be comfortable. The rest of us must add height by adding padding under the removeable seat cushion. I allways buy mattresses, sofas and chairs when i have a bad back as i can allways tell the good ones from the bad that way. These seats are good, but they require that you fit them for your size.

My back is fine but as I am 5ft 8ins would I find the buckets too low do you think? Tried the buckets in my friend's Caymasn R and they were fine.

I am 186 cm (is that 6.1 ?) and the added 1,5 of thickness made mine fit perfectly. They are now superb to sit in. The thing is that these seats are sculpted to fit a persons back, rather than beeing flat like normal seats. After getting the fitting right i can tell you they are the best seats i have sat in.
