any idea what the running in procedure is for the GT4 ? thinking of booking a GRRC track day on the 14/November, about 3-4 weeks after the car is delivered, should have done 1,000 miles by then, but unlikely many more.
Euro manual says for 3,000 km (salesman said 500 km) avoid high revs especially when cold, minimise cold starts and short trips, no track use. No mention of varying revs but I've avoided using cruise control for that reason. No mention of engine load.

I have always run my engines in for 2k miles then do an oil change.
Always warmed up properly, first 800-1000 miles keep below 3000 -3500rpm but never slog the engine ie low revs up a hill, take longer journeys and then increase the load gradually to 2k miles with occasional taking the revs to near the redline briefly.
I have run in 4 new porsche engines and they have never been thirsty for oil and seem to get more powerful as the miles pile on

I expect a fair few will get flipped before they reach 200 2000 miles.

Long time lurker, I have been confirmed a slot (October build) and paid a deposit a couple of months ago but still no sign of my PEC invite, is anyone else in the same position?

Recently sold my 991 S as I wanted something a bit more raw, having previously owned an F430, hoping the GT4 fits that bill.

I did the PEC Precision Course (full day one one one) earlier this year in my own 991 S and would highly recommend it. Great way to get to know you car without the risk of losing your license.

Current spec is as follows, I need to lock it in next week or so.
Agate Grey Metallic
Black (stitching in Platinum Grey) Leather interior
Bi-Xenon-Headlights incl. Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) in black
Rear wing supports in black
Fuel tank 64-litre
Clubsport package
Full bucket seats
6-point seat belt for front passenger
Smoking package
Storage compartment lid in Alcantara with ‘PORSCHE’ logo
Door trim package in leather/Alcantara
Porsche Communication Management
Digital radio
Online Services
Telephone module
Sound Package Plus

I did a track day on my bike today at silverstone and at the end of the day i thought i would see if i could get over to pec for a sneaky look at the GT4. When i get there the woman on the counter confirms none in the atrium for me to ogle but there is one out on track. So i sit there for an eternity waiting for it to come in but no chance. Looked and sounded great out on track with the chap in question giving it some welly, tyre squeal aplenty. Lo and behold when i look round the car park there is a peridot cayman r with pagid yellows on it so i can only conclude it was the legend that it is mrdemon out in the GT4. There was some very nice kit in the car park including an RS4.0 and and then quite bizarrely someone rolled up with a porsche diesel tractor on a trailer, and i mean an actual tractor not a panamera. I asked if there was any chance of booking up the GT4 and they told me not till 2016…! Look forward to hear the report from mrd.

Since the gt4 and the 997.2s have the same engine how do the gear ratios compare?

yep was me :-) (although I am NOT MRDEMON NOW some one has cloned me) , st I was sweating today in that car (NO AC), put in some final hard fast laps and when it rained tried the low grip in the wet, not a chance of holding that in the wet, but did a few circles in the dry ok. lack of talent came to bite me in the arse on the low grip area in the wet ;-) I thought it would be easier in the wet !

cars set up to understeer when pushed as well, did my head in, bloody hate understeer, I can see why people have put the rear ARB to stiff, this was on soft !

2.5hours driving time in it today for me, it's a solid motor alright.

Cannot say I am 100% happy with it though, was expecting more. A LOT more ! some things it did very well, some less so imo.

You mean you hyped it up so much that its not as special as you hoped.

They had a white one at the silverstone classic, interior looked nice/lovely, white looked dull and the paint finish on the uprights wasnt exactly smooth.

They had the pink/orange rs there as well, i saw the colour on a 911 during the week on m25, looked good, saw it at the show and it looked st

I will be driving the GT4 next week back to back with my R - I'll reserve judgement to then.
