Bubbles any pics of the black and White ones?
Sorry no, the white one was parked up and away from the majority of cars which were being used during the day. It had been prepped for Thursday and didn't move all day. The black one only came out from the compound immediately before I took it out and one of the instructors did some laps of the handling circuit in it on his own later on.

The white one is top right.

The various option settings seemed to do very little no matter what configuration was chosen, apart from when all the stability aids were turned off on the kick plate section and the ice hill - definitely more fun without the nanny state intervening.

As I was on the road I couldn't really test the brakes on the black car so much but they felt fine, nice early bite and able to modulate the retardation by adjusting the pressure easily, similar to the PCCB on my old 987. I would have like to have repeated the 0-60-0 in this car to compare with the yellow one which didn't stop as well as my old 987.
Interesting comments on the brakes in both your posts bubbles. Are you essentially saying that pccb was better on the road than on track when you drove the black car? I'm going standard brakes btw

I couldn't directly compare as I drove the black car on road and the yellow one on track. No complaints with the braking of the black car on the road, the yellow one on track didn't bite as sharply as my old 987. That yellow one has probably has a hard life, the black one was box fresh.

Cool tks . Have heard the yellow cars braking has taken a battering from others so maybe as you say that's the difference .

I'm thinking standard brakes on this car will be awesome as from the Carrera S so pccb though nice to have arent necessary . Tks for feedback

A few people have done the PEC day now, has anyone got photos of the black car by any chance? keen to see what it looks like, especially with the PCCB's

No pictures but it looked fantastic. Black, yellow callipers, extended leather with yellow stitching and belts. Can't remember if it had silver wheels and wing supports, too busy driving it.

jackwood,

Did you manage to get a GT4 in the end? I know you thought you might have been too late to the party but have you got one coming then? If so, congrats, the car looks/sounds a right tool!

Give my regards to Mike Bourke, not seen him for a while.

Uncertainty about PCCB's is what put me off. If the yellow PEC car had dodgy steel brakes they would probably examine the disks, determine they were OK, throw a set of pads at it and call it fixed for a relatively modest outlay. If the yellow PEC car was a customer’s car with iffy PCCB's you are potentially facing megabucks to put them right and be following a 9 page thread about cheaper refurbishment options very closely. If they perform better or not, even when they are in fine fettle is a secondary consideration for me. I'd be worried sick about running costs.

Jackwood : on the side Porsche intended: LHD ! Seriously, prefer LHD on track, and have had a number of old RS models over the years, all LHD, so no big deal.

Odd comment, but why is it that I can imagine Steve McQueen having one of these in that flat grey colour he had on his 911 S and 930?

Usually much prefer 911s even, perhaps especially, the 991, but these are lovely cars.

Hi Steve,

Yes managed into one in the end, thank you.

Went out with Mike the other week for a curry. He's very busy at the moment. Can't even get my car looked at unless I go in and hold some spanner for him smile

Brilliant! Something cool about LHD in the UK. Do you still get UK warranty, etc?

... I was astounded by Calum and the GT4's braking performance, and the extraordinary balance of the car in a masters hands. We experienced my first and probably only four wheel drift down Paddock Hill Bend, which was really impressive, both to me as a passenger and to Calum as an experienced racer. Calum absolutely loved the car, thought the balance and poise were just about perfect, loved the GT3-like engine howl. The only suggestions he had were to add more camber to the front wheels, which would help minimise the "wait " for the car to settle on corner exit before getting back on the throttle. ...
Were your ARBs standard (medium front and rear)?

GT3 chassis, Carrera S engine, limited run, huge development cost per unit, less money than a 3.4 Carrera... crap value? It will more or less hold it's price, how will your modded 45k Cayman go?

I doubt anyone will order the car without any extras (add just aircon) - that is real value at 65k, a new GT Porsche with a 3 year warranty.

On track the PASM button did nothing I could feel lol.

I was told it's the same setup just reacts quicker with PASM on. so on track would feel the same.
On the road at low speeds the hard setting is jarring on sharp holes or ridges whereas the soft setting hardly ever is. But at speed I prefer the hard setting because it feels more lively. However yesterday I had the rear ARB set to stiff so will see whether the hard PASM setting is still necessary to spice things up.
