Just back from my first proper fang since getting the rear ARB set to stiff. To quote Chris Harris, ‘WOW, WOW, WOW!!!’ Instead of constant very slight understeer unless you really provoked the rear, the GT4 is now completely neutral with steady throttle, and both backing off and accelerating lets you straighten the steering. The car feels so much more alive and agile, always on its toes instead of just being steadfastly planted, and seemingly without inertia or momentum at either end. It’s still confidence inspiring but now really holds your attention as you sense the reactions to steering and throttle inputs. Most of the time it feels like the rear tyres are just able to contain full throttle if you apply it smoothly. The steering is lighter and more willing and the front wheels feel directly connected to your hands rather than separated by a couple of metres of mechanical components.
Given the oversteer angle I got in a couple of hairpins with stability and traction controls on (like in the wet with the standard ARB settings) I think that — unlike Chris Harris — I won’t further sacrifice stability and traction by going to a soft front bar setting. However it would be nice to have lower second and third gears to be able to meter out oversteer more easily. And the newfound handling perfection raises the bar for the motor, which now feels like it could do with some extra fireworks at the top of third gear. Still, these small shortcomings in the drivetrain are easy to forgive in car at a fraction of the price of the competition when the build quality, chassis, steering, brakes, gearshift and clutch are the best that money can buy — and the last two are manual.

So have you gone medium front and full stiff rear?

That looks so so good!!
I thought the black car looked fantastic in the flesh - so much so that I was seriously tempted to switch to black - I have to lock down my spec this month. After a quick wobble I asked the PEC guys to show me the racing yellow car in the compound, and have decided to stick with yellow, or black, or yellow, or black ....

Yep. Don't know why it's not the standard/medium setup (i.e at the rear delete the soft hole and add a stiffer one), I'm sure most people would prefer it and I can't imagine anyone using the current soft at the rear.So have you gone medium front and full stiff rear?

Nice driving by Mr 993. Pity Mrs GT4 was in the middle of a cup of tea.HokumPokum said:
Walter r prefers medium and medium.
I prefer slight under steer setup as I can control the rotation better trailing brakes. Your experience may vary.
Yes, you probably read that EVO said if you're as good as Walter medium and medium is the quickest but Meaden finds soft front and stiff rear more lively and entertaining. For the time being I've settled on half way between for road driving but I can imagine that if you are committed enough with corner entry on track that medium and medium will work well. I'm not that brave on the road. Still can't see anyone using soft at the rear though.I prefer slight under steer setup as I can control the rotation better trailing brakes. Your experience may vary.

I've gone with black and black wheels, added yellow stitching today as well - opted for the folding buckets instead of LWB as they weren't comfortable and the folding are a happy medium between them and the adaptives
Still going with yellow?
Yep, just want a change really, have had a lot of black cars in the past, including current Caterham and wife and son's cars. Never been brave enough to go for a colour like yellow before, so am having a 'you only live once' moment ...Still going with yellow?
I do think the black 'stealth bomber' spec with some interior bling will look fantastic though

My standard 981S has 1:45 (deg:mins) rear which is the max in the Porsche "normal" range shown on the Beissbarth Geo setup programme for a PASM car.
Excuse me for being the ignorant Yank here, but I've recently seen numerous referencesto the term "geo", which isn't a part of my automotive lexicon. Might someone provide a bit of clarification for me?
Much obliged...
