Not if it were offered as an option, so you could still choose either. Can't see it happening anyway.

Spot on. That's where the GT4 RS rumours originated - Evo interview with Jethro Bovingdon when he asked the question. 'Never say never' turns into fact.

Maybe PDK introduction is because GT4 sales have not been strong in every region. Look at Switzerland where cars are still available to order.

Maybe everyone here is just being a bit myopic and thinking Porsche AG make all their manufacturing and marketing decisions based on UK demand.

I think it might be more a case that those which were seeing this car as an investment and looking to flip it are now concerned that dilution will lead to lower premiums.

i don't get your issue here. manual and PDK optional is the best of both worlds, no?
why are they screwing the enthusiast?

Sorry, I was just alluding to the possibility of another batch of cars being available, now with a choice of transmission.

It was more about GT4 production numbers and how, if those were to increase, it would be bad news for the dolphins pectorals but good for enthusiasts that want to get to own and use the car instead of selling it on for a large profit if there were fewer available.

It may still come to nothing this year, but be available on the next GT4. Let's wait for the announcement.

From the quotes below from the Rennlist post I'm guessing:
- The announcement will be for a 981.1 GT4 R with PDK for the GT4 race category.
- There will be a 981.2 GT4 with a PDK option.
- There will be a 981.2 GT4 RS sharing tech with a 981.2 GT4 R because the price of the 991.2 GT3 will be higher.

"1. GT4RS - when I asked will there be a GT4RS his response was - "I think that is too many letters for a GT4, I don't like too much script on the rear end". He followed up with, no not now, not In this generation, and no plans in the future as it would be too close in price to the GT3.

"2. PDK - I asked if they have had time to work on the PDK for a GT4. He replied, yes, the GT4 will be offered in customer choice PDK or manual soon. (Although this might not make sense today, in 3 days it will). This, in spite of the overwhelming success of the concept of getting back to the emotional part of the driving experience.

"Let me be very careful what words I use .... I can say that there will not be a GT4 Cup car being announced with PDK. But you might be close."

Serious question - CS package costs £2,670, not quite loose change.

For that you get a roll cage, power kill switch belts & a fire extinguisher? the LWB's have to paid for any way.

How much will an aftermarket cage cost, if required.

The cage may not be the real issue, more difficult and costly might be the actual mountings which may not be fitted in a non CS car ??

And the difference in price will probably be gone anyway once it is time to sell the car and you don't have the original CS-package. Either you forget about the cage or you get it from Porsche. I don't think there is a middle ground.

That sums it up. Thanks

It does seem a bit of an excessive price since it's a no cost option on other GT cars. Initial new design, testing and certification costs recoup maybe ??

More like low headline price and perhaps aimed at more road than track use, and premium for track use necessities.
