PS - car may be for sale at that rate, but not sold, just before anyone starts claiming that is what they are now worth!

miskalachi said flipped, I just went on a rant about allocations to these customers.

Thinking about it with my head and not my heart, having spent months speaking to OPC's, if I'm at the point where I'm having to plead with dealers to take a massive sum of money (£70k) to allocate me a car, as well as having to listen to salesman spin as to why I'm not an important enough customer, then it probably isn't worth the energy or time I've put in, even if I believe it will be a truly amazing car. frown

Hmmm, to burn my bridges with a strongly worded email or not!!!
No point speaking to your OPC (unless they're part of Porsche GB) as they're most likely a franchise.

Put it direct to Porsche GB.

It's a joke OPC's selling to preferred customers, who then allow the OPC to resell their car at massive premiums (with people obviously making profits).

But OPC's are abusing their 'officially Porsche approved' position by selling classic Porsche.

Their short term greed is damaging long term trust in OPC's and the Porsche brand.

With respect I think you'll find is thier obligation to Porsche is selling new Porsche cars at list prices but beyond that they can charge what they like for 2nd cars. Not saying it's ethical necessarily but think you'll find they are following the Letter of the law

It's in the showroom now yes, at the back. They said the buyer had it for a week but then they've had to move abroad so can't keep the car?
A likely story. Just given my contacts my views on this, as I find this practise unacceptable. I know it isn't unusual, but I had the OPC's word that allocations were fair; this isn't the case.
It's my GT4 at Wilmslow and I have moved abroad a couple of months ago. I'm afraid when I ordered it I didn't know I was going to move, that all happened very quickly.

I put an LOI in on the car a very long time ago and deposited on the day the car was announced before 9am in January.

To be honest, I was going to keep the car in the UK for when I am home, but in reality I have other cars to use which are better suited to handling luggage and dirty UK roads in the wintry months.

If it goes, it goes, if it doesn't then I shall keep it. I may bring it over here, and after days like today with sunny skies and 26C I think I might, but it is difficult as I am outside the EU with VAT etc.

I did nearly 600 miles over the 4 days when I was in the UK and enjoyed it greatly. You'll know I'm the real owner as it should still read 591 on the odo!

I guess it's difficult to allocate the cars to the right people, but my situation is genuine. Would you rather me put it in storage?

Please don't blame Wilmslow, they've done nothing wrong apart from supply me the car as I was the first in the queue and I've asked them to put it on SOR for me, and I'm not going to put it up at list price am I? I've waited many months for the car and if I am to sell it, then it needs to be worthwhile.

Personally I not sure what the premium is, but I think if you were to drive one then you'd understand it deserves one.

People are still paying £20k+ over list for 2 year old GT3s...

Sounds reasonable to me.

Back to the GT4....in the flesh, do you feel the black wheels work with the white body? Looks good to me, which white is it?

Carrara and Satin Black is probably what I'll go for.

Good luck with the sale.

Do you think I should sell it privately or something? That's difficult as I'm a long way away.

Appreciate the response and clarification too; although I'm sure you can appreciate how frustrating a situation this is, and how the dealerships always have a 'reason' why the car is back up for sale. At least your reason for sale seems plausible, though your price doesn't lol biggrin

Hi,

The white is standard 0Q. I don't think the metallic is special enough.

The black wheels are much better in reality than the photos suggest. I was going with the standard ones after seeing it at Geneva, then thought I'd go with black after seeing them at Silverstone.

As the wheels get dirty, it adds more definition to the spokes.

I deliberated over the spec (don't we all) and after having the car, I would not change a thing. I would have gone for buckets, but that would have delayed the car's delivery and I wanted it for the last few days of summer. Best laid plans and all that...

Maybe this photo gives you an idea when the wheels get a bit dirty.
I'm definitely liking the black wheel option.

Just noticed a great new pic of a black on black GT4 on Phooey's colour thread. Really like that too.

This one..

997 very engaging and remains to be seen just how the gt4 compares however all the reviews so far seem to look favorably on the gt4 so all is encouraging.

Tbh Porsche don't make unengaging GT cars just look at the 991, got all the purist moaning about electric steering yet they sold out overnight. All poppycock if you ask me. They need to lose the pipe and slippers

You don't have to justify yourself to a forum, particularly one that seems permanently armed with pitch forks, flaming crosses and handbags! laugh It's a shame you can't enjoy it as intended having had a taste of the car.

I'd have done likewise in your position to be honest.

It must be a pain letting it go! frown

I saw you give it some just coming off the bypass from Wilmslow to Alderley last Friday and it sounded like you were really enjoying yourself wink

I was only nipping into the dealer yesterday to have a nosy at a few cars, walked around the back and was shocked to see your car. One of the guys told me the story and thought I would share it on here - wasn't bad mouthing wilmslow but I thought fellow GT4 soon to be owners (including me) would like to know the price they were fetching back with an OPC smile

You're right it's all down to personal preference but the 991 gt3 sold out quickly after the rave journo reviews despite the moaning about the electric steering so it clearly does offer feel etc.
As I've owned just about every varient of 911 ( with respect you haven't) I feel that I'm able to say how engaging one is vs another and having dug my heels in previously about air cooled vs watercooled , hydrolic vs electric steering etc etc I finally buried the pipe and slippers and beard (well almost) and as much as I enjoyed ownership of the older models I now find myself embracing the new technology.
Sadly I think if you don't you end up some old bald headed fuddy duddy

Scooty I'm afraid you are on a loser here mate. It's the Porsche world according to Cmoose and if you don't fit in to his tunnel visioned shut eyes approach on what constitutes engaging then you are just plain wrong.
It also makes Your view far more worth while actually having 'put your kok in the custard' and owned and driven these cars far more than someone whose previous ownership would probably gain the respect of a bank robber.

I have to actually thank him now as he has saved me £5 a month not buying 911&Porsche world as it seems he has got a slot 'writing' in it. I could tell straight away from the rather boring monotonous drivel after the first paragraph... Whatever next??? Josef Fritzl in House and Home maybe?

Went to see the white GT4 at Wilmslow today. Was hoping I'd not like it so that I could put it to the back of my mind and forget about it, but wow, it was stunning; the best car (looks wise) in the place (the 918 had gone!). Would have needed bucket seats for me, and £30k off the price, but can't have everything! Amusing being told by one salesman that the owner changed his mind last minute, and by another that the owner part exchanged it for a GT3, so clearly reasons/excuses are rife as usual. Funny how both GT3's were there, so obviously not. Not so great to see that both GT3's were being taken out by separate customers on test drivers; I assume maybe willing to pay the heavy premiums on these cars, just going to show why the dealers and customers alike are more than willing to chop them in for huge profits; even if that isn't the case with this particular GT4.

You don't see the relevance because your tunnel visioned and surely if you've driven a 991 RS you'd know how direct and engaging it is. I hadn't realised you'd got yourself a slot in a Porsche mag but well done you just make sure you embrace the newer models or your days may be numbered .

Also weather you care or not about the cars I've owned I'm better versed than you on actual and real life experience end of.

Oh and don't forget I mentioned the word bald when I said Fuddy Duddy !
