I spoke to the supplying dealer on my 991 GT3 and got LOI accepted straight away last week. Number 3 in queue (I think)
Why would one assume this will be oversubscribed? Looks like its using standard parts? That's not to say it wont be a great car but from all the speculation looks to have no low volume specific parts.
I don't think they want another 991 GT3 issue so if you order one I reckon you will get one.
I don't work for VAG so all of this is pure speculation. But so are all the other comments!
Personally 400hp, manual, light weight and 70k would be awesome. I fear it will be nearer 90k and heavy and 375. Exige is very good at 1100 kg, 350hp and 60k! Might be made of plastic in Norfolk but didn't need a recall to have the engine changed.
I would assume it is oversubscribed because it seems it could be the one car porsche fans have been asking porsche to make since the cayman with its sublime chassis first appeared (a cayman with 911 grunt),that and dealers having lots of interest and deposits already placed, together with an actual revelation that it will be limited numbers, although they did not confirm the number (but they expect it to be around gt3 levels). Why would one assume this will be oversubscribed? Ah interesting info I had no idea it was going to be limited build numbers. At £90k Im not sure however. Going to pop in to my OPC tomorrow for a chat and get a feeing for whats likely.

LOI in some time ago...rather liking the way this Cayman is developing
How is it developing?Other than the (presumably carefully staged!) spy shots, I'm not sure I've seen any particularly credible information. Lots to enjoy from the usual internet wishfulthinkingeers as always - and I do enjoy this stuff! - but is there anything of substance?

more like £65k, ask your OPC if you can post numbers :-), a lot of people know them inc me, but every one is told to hush hush atm, not sure why.At £90k Im not sure however. Going to pop in to my OPC tomorrow for a chat and get a feeing for whats likely.

they announced it at several meetings to porsche people. My OPC director was in germany and was at a presentation for new models including a 'gt4' ,it will be announced in feb and builds start in the summer, limited numbers but no other info although some on here seem to have further info the last few days.Other than the (presumably carefully staged!) spy shots, I'm not sure I've seen any particularly credible information. Limited numbers is always a good thing from an owners stand point. You think 65k as a base plus add ons?
375hp Turbo'd would be enough in a smaller car than the gt3 and if turbo'd would make for intersting midrange and torque.
That said it needs the noise of a gt3

Apparently Porsche Solihull have four LOI's/Deposits currently.......
Intersting. My name went Down 3 months ago and I don't think I was the 1st.Also no deposit required.
Need more details but the car is sounding a winner if in limited numbers just gotta get my head round it not being a gt3

What exactly is the point of stating you know all these secret numbers but then not actually stating anything concrete....?Some one will blat them out soon enough now every OPC knows the numbers. :-)

Hope they don't cock up the gearing otherwise it will be boring/unusable on the road. 100+ mph in third is giggle inspiring the first few times but then reality kicks in and the thought of your piece of paper being put through the shredder...........................
this bit is a bit worrying as it's not just 100mph any more for 3rd.the 981 does 82 mph in 2nd gear alone!!!

Having read this forum, I drove my Dad's manual 2005 987S (3.2) which is my own car.the 981 does 82 mph in 2nd gear alone!!!
Now this is not scientific as I don't know the ratios of my current 360 spider, but what I noticed was that even in the 987S it did feel like I could have done everything pretty much in 2nd gear, and that torque was lacking coming out of corners in 2nd gear. In the 360 spider I seem to work the open gate box more, but I don't know what the ratios are....
Now the point of me writing this is that I don't think that this is a problem exclusive to the 981, even if it's a tiny bit worse in the 981.
I should also say it never bothered me, nor did I even know or notice anything in the 5 years I spent enjoying the 987.

Nope lots further south. Gonna see them tomorrow and I think sell the gt3 early next year ready for the cayman .
If I go for it will also do the factory collection too if it's still available obviously depending on final details.
