Good point.

Seats are there to keep you comfortable whilst giving enough grip to match how you drive. Anything else is just marketing and resale value. Choose what suits you, not the wallet or next driver or some spod on a forum says.

Those 918 style seats everyone wks over? It's just another "I need those let me open my wallet Mr Porsche" I need my 918 pretend seats in my less than 400bhp car too. Otherwise people will laugh at me and my testicles will implode like that episode of Das Boot." And the resale value....

Mr Porsche is the modern day Fagin when it comes to playing a tune and the dogs sitting up, beging and paying more. You'd be better off with after market stuff than all this branded stuff a man in Germany with slicked back blonde hair and £1900 glasses on his nose wants you to buy.

But everyone keeps sucking it up.

As Dan would say, tell me it's not true.
The 918 style buckets are really comfy on a long trip; have huge height adjustment; provide much more lateral support to your shoulders than the sports seats, which you need if you're going to make use of the GT4's amazing grip; look brilliant and visually match the intent of the car; and save 13 kg over the standard sports seats and more over the fully adjustable ones. They do require agility to get in and out of so if you have an incurable bad back the sports seats would be more suitable but otherwise the LWBs are a rational choice so don't bore us with your tirade.

The 991 gt3 CS has folding buckets (po3) and not no 918 style? So this must be compromised also!
The 918 style are the new must have seats but that does not make them better for everyone, some owners have complained of discomfort over long journeys but others have not!imo they should have made them in two sizes (slim and wide)as per I believe the 918 as one size does not fit all!

How, do you equate, as in join the dots, to what is widely accepted as the best DC box on the planet, with 918 style seats....?

I would say just has many sports seats have been ordered as 918 style buckets but not many folding buckets!

Lwbs easily worth the c£500 extra over the old style buckets. Especially as they are £1000 extra on the 981 Spyder.

new style to go with new car

you do want the old steering wheel and old style buckets in a 2016 car ?

you buy a new car you want the new style, has nothing to do with how it drives.

I would not read too much into what porsche charges for extras on different models!at one time the folding buckets were an extra £400 over 918 style on the GT4
It could be the 918 style are cheaper to build hence more profit as a must have!

but I was talking new car has a whole and not individual parts!
But if you want to go there do you prefer new steering over old or will you prefer the new 981.2 engine over the 981.1!
So new is not always better than old!

Then you would be incorrect....I know about 25 RS owners around the planet....apart from one who wanted an early car, all have gone for 918 style...why do you think they have run out, one reason demand.....

Why would you want a none adjust, none CF, less support, heaver old style seat, in what is the latest car........lol

Have you driven a car with the new and old style seat?.....

None buckets in an RS = miss specked imv, though I know to one that has done this, its his DD and suits his requirements better.

they both are what they are not better or worse depending what you want.

but future resale and looks every one will want 918 seats, in the new cars, that's a given no one really wants seats from 2010 in the new look GT4's ! or worst chairs !!

Taking this one stage further Porsche charge c£800 for the crucial red or yellow stitching on the GT4 (only £900 even on the 991 GT3) whereas on the Spyder it came 'free'. Bizarre. confused

I was talking gt4 not RS
So how much heavier if at all(lwbs have an electric motor) are the folding buckets?
Has said before driven many times with the old style buckets I find them extremely comfortable over long journeys but as soon as I got in 918 style I knew they weren't for me!early on in production/delivery of gt4 many new owners were also complaining of discomfort with lwbs!
