Thought the GT4 sttels same as Carrera S

Imo the extra cost for PCCBs on the GT4 is unjustified.....similarly the £3k cost for cage and harness. Whilst ceramics on the GT3 probably worth it as would recoup on resale.

I think the ceramics are over priced without doubt but this is a track car fundamentally therefore or me it must have Pccb buckets and cage. If I were looking for a second hand GT4 I would dismiss those without. If I were looking for a car for road use I'd buy a GTS
Just my humble but if I was to think of moving the 4 on it'd be for a GT3 and again only a club sport version would do!.
Interesting to hear prices are coming down! Maybe a straight swap(-:

I wish I had gone viper, but after canceling Mexcio blue I was not allowed to change which was annoying which left me with a choice of the basic colours, so yellow it was as I wanted yellow stitching :-) I do like it in red also but not much else standard colour wise, plus it added 3 months to my build which was getting daft.
If going pts I would like to have been brave enough to go light green birch what ever it is 2 owners have gone for this on here and I think they will look stunning!
Colours are very personal for instance my 28 year old sun loves the sapphire blue but it's a big no no for me,yellow although it looks great in the picture of the dawn mist most of the time it looks dull also its a colour that imo will not stand the test of time to well!
Personally don't think you can go far wrong with red ,black, or white!
But yet again everyone to their own personal choice!
Incidentally on the seat front interesting to see in the original 991rs brochure both sets of buckets were offered as if porsche new the 918 style would not suit everyone along with adaptives whereas the gt4 does not show folding buckets and for av185 the folding buckets cost £700+ more to spec on a 991gt3 over a GT4!

I believe the Spyder steels are from the Carrera S, but the GT4 ones from the GT3, it has the GT3 front end after all.

I think a quite a few people still prefer steels for track use, I do anyway.

This was a question I wanted to ask. Would a clubsport spec'd GT4 potentially with carbon brakes always be at the higher end of the resale valuations, or would by limiting the potential audience mean you'd recoup less than a sensibly spec'd road/race option?

I'd be inclined to go one of two ways, as the car would be nothing more than a toy, though can't say it is likely to hit a race track sadly, as I acknowledge my track skills will soon find me in the dirt!

Remind me again what colour you have gone for? How does silver fit, in your opinion?

I have gone CWM with platinum wheels after much debate and looking at cars, some would say why pay£558 extra over white is crazy but it works for me I hope as I have not seen one in the flesh and I did not like the standard white car with black wheels at pec but as said before colour is personal so there really is no right or wrong colour for an individual's car

CWM is a lovely colour and one that we've both had with the previous cars; just a bugger to keep clean but not really an issue. I'm steering towards this colour at present, but with the black wheels, on the presumption that PTS (special paints) won't be an option again.

agree a track cars should be on steels @ £5k a corner tracking a GT4 with PCCB could get very expensive.

road car then CCB are good as they should last the life of the car, sadly on track they don't like the heat and don't last that long although they feel great while they do work esp on the 987.2 cars vs the standard smaller set up.

It's not the same as the flat. Carrara white we had on our 987.2 it's a fairly new colour choice that I believe was introduced with the arrival of the 918

Confused, I had Carrera White Metallic on my CR; is this not the same colour as CWM now offered on the GT4?

Yeah sure, post on here or email through to me if you like - you may have my details still from our previous convo.

I might have got it wrong, maybe my CR was flat white, not metallic.

The 918 style buckets are really comfy on a long trip; have huge height adjustment; provide much more lateral support to your shoulders than the sports seats, which you need if you're going to make use of the GT4's amazing grip; look brilliant and visually match the intent of the car; and save 13 kg over the standard sports seats and more over the fully adjustable ones. They do require agility to get in and out of so if you have an incurable bad back the sports seats would be more suitable but otherwise the LWBs are a rational choice so don't bore us with your tirade.
Perhaps Tim prefers the ones he got? Don't bore us with your tirade!
Look up the meaning of tirade. In replying to an angry long-winded claim that that the LWBs are a wk I merely pointed out that there are valid reasons for choosing them.

Really? I found the ceramics on my earlier 996 and 997 to be quite poor on the road especially when cold. I thought the failing on track of Pccb's was a thing of the past especially on occasional track day cars. Are they really £20k a set? These figures get thrown around the internet , I thought they'd be closer to half of that!
What do I know tho, I've been away from the marque for a long time!
