the extra price gives you a 1/3 more power

was a must have for me at 46 years old as I do find it much harder in the dark due to age.

If you are 20 then you can bloody see In the dark. but above 40 it's all down hill quite fast imo.
:-(

Pupils shrink and don't dilate as much in the dark as we age, reducing the amount of light entering the eye.
Various reports indicate that the retina of an 80-year-old receives far less light than the retina of a 20-year-old.
This can make older drivers function as though they are wearing dark sunglasses at night.

Lucky I am not 80 yet. but my night time viewing is not like is was when I was 20, so a 1/3 more power please and washers work on those long wet trips rather than getting out and wiping off your headlights on that 100 mile trip home esp when you are out of water or it's froze and you are trying to spit on them !!!

Plus your eyesight will most likely get even worse over coming years especially night vision! At 51 my eyesight is not as good as at 46 especially in poor light so those extra powered lights will be a welcome bonus down those dark country lanes so £477 well spent in my book!Xenons are pretty rare on the 987 spyder/cr and if I was ever in the market for one again I would try to find a car with over something like pcm

Upgraded lights have never been a factor for me and I have no problems excluding them from consideration...thankfully...one less stress!

Resided to the fact that I won't be able to keep this car under £70k!

mine come in at just under £72k otr so I am sure you will get pretty close with out a poverty spec.
Buckets and leather are must haves imo and only add £3k so that leaves £2k for nice little extras!

Has anyone got / is anyone getting their GT4 and NOT putting protection film on it?

I'm not intending to. The car will get properly used and I expect it will pick up stone chips. My 2006 987.1 Cayman S has loads of them on the bonnet and I view this as good honest patina.

I'm interested in hearing of others who haven't done so, and why they haven't. Especially if they wish they had done so!

I am not protecting mine. I am getting this car partly because I don't have to worry about it and want to use it. If I start to act precious over it, I will cease to relax and enjoy it. Just my attitude.

never put protection/film apart from wax on any of my cars!what I noticed on my basalt black 987.1cs I picked up one or two stone chips but my white 987.2spyder not even one!white is a hard colour compared to say black so I am choosing CWM for my gt4 and it is only going to get a good wax protection done by myself on a regular basis.I think if you go softer colours like red or yellow stone chips will be more of a problem

Well I'm certain on black wheels, leather, lwb, red seat belts, climate and carbon, doesn't leave much left before £70k, in fact, just £200 and that is without red stitching which I'm almost certain I'll pick!

My white 981 S doesn't have any film on it, it does have a few very annoying stone chips on the front bumper. It has 12 000 miles on it.

My Voodoo GT4 (if it ever arrives) is getting full paint protection film.

When is your Voodoo meant to be here as my original December build Spyder got the 10-12 week delay when I went Voodoo - Won't the paint protection null & void the factory paint warranty frown

Don't forget to factor in the additional £1200 or so for otr charges, rfl, delivery etc. You need to add this to the configurator price wink

Not sure if serious? Can't find reference to OTR price on their website!

I'm not putting anything on mine and will park it pretty much anywhere apart from maybe the supermarket car park. I really do find that pampering and worry leads to less enjoyment of the thing but then we're all different, some more than others!
Dark colours will always show up more stones chips, all my black cars have needed front end resprays prior to sale but its no hassle and only a few quid in the scheme of things…

Having said that, if i was having something like a silver or a special paint like voodoo I would probably protect it as matching might be very hard...

Mines deffo over £1k. I've not got the paperwork in front of me but sure it was around £1300. First year road tax was £850! Can anyone else confirm how much they paid for OTR (On The Road) charges??

I am having PPF. For the exact reason that if I have it done I won't have to worry about it.

Done the scuffy "beater" GT3 look. Thousands and thousands of stone chips from track and road trips to Scotland. Not doing that again, especially not on a shiny new car.

If you drive around in close convoy at speed with other cars with big sticky tyres, stone chips are impossible to avoid. You HAVE to have PPF if you want to prevent the front of your car looking like it's been sandblasted. If you live in the city and rarely get over 30mph or when you do you are normally driving on your own out of traffic, then you could probably justify not having it.

Yes mine is £75873 and OTR is just over £77000 so about 1300 quid sounds right

Sounds like you've been getting the same story as me then. They've also got 2 additional slots for January builds apparently, though they hadn't heard anything about the May and June slots that have been mentioned on here recently.
Same story at Swindon (Also Dick Lovett)-definitely no knowledge of extra builds for May/June or sooner.
I did suggest in a previous post that Porsche GB owned sites were being favoured-but shot down in flames ?
