Spyder is the closest thing to that, you can easy get a Spyder to 1200kg.
Mine is 1250 and you can tell over my R when driving. hence why that car is staying and I have done the mods to the SUS and mounts for it. A great car.
Did you ever actually get your car onto a scale? Last time this was being discussed you were guesstimating using the factory weight figure as your starting point. Mine is 1250 and you can tell over my R when driving. hence why that car is staying and I have done the mods to the SUS and mounts for it. A great car.
i have a hard time believing it is going to get to 1250kg actually
my previous spyder weighed in at 1275kg on a trackday
car's spec:
bi-xenons
sound pack plus
no AC
PCCB
LiON battery
PSE
SS
sport mode
it weighed 1275kg with half tank of petrol with tool kit tray and roof out of the car.
Given that MrD's car has no bi-xenons and soundless, I'd say we are even with mine having a LiON battery. Who knows how much leather weighs......
then i had LCAs front and rear fitted but I don't think they save much weight at all.

No 6 speed 'box, but ticks all your other boxes. I drove one approximately 12 years ago. Those that haven't driven one bh about the handling balance being ruined by the extra weight of the 3.5 6 pot 260hp engine, but I can tell you here and now that's complete BS. The original 4 pot S14 engine isn't a lightweight unit, the six pot weighs an additional 45kgs IIRC.

My dream car circa 250ps (but not more than 300), sub 1200kgs, rwd. hydraulic steering, 6 speed manual close ratio, lsd, decent but not overpowerful brakes, no electronic toys, simple aero, no more than 265 tyres... something like that, and yes I do like a/c.
So basically a car nearly as far from the 991 gt3 as one could imagine then...? Elise, 986 are good options if you have a decent daily driver.

Sounds good to me. If it gets a dry sump a proper diff ( please let it be mechanical ) big brakes and suspension that is fully ( 3 - 6 deg of neg ) adjustable then I'll take one over a 991 GT3. This car will be a sign of intent - one way or another.
Yes that would be great. Dry sump and a proper diff...hmmm... Yes please!Steve Rance said:
If it's got one, we will all know how serious Porsche are about developing this platform. I hope that it has
Me too! And I expect it too otherwise why call it a GT4 at all. I mean ideally I'd like double wishbones too but I think this is massively unlikely, but a dry sump a proper diff should definitely be part of the deal IMHO.J-P said:

hmmmm....The 991 GT3 has an electronic full variable diff - not mechanical, and the general tread is toward these electronic active diffs across all marques.
So the debate will be electronic active vs mechanical...
Didn't Porsche say that the e-diff on the 991 gt3 had to be paired with the pdk to work as the hydraulic pump was driven off the gearbox or something as one of the reasons for dropping the manual? Are the gt3 racing cars allowed to use those e-diffs though? I am pretty sure the cup/rsr cars run old school mechanical locking diffs (along with their old school mezger ) but not sure if the r8 lms/sls gt3 etc do the same.So the debate will be electronic active vs mechanical...
If the gt4 truly is going to be used for racing surely they would need to fit in a rear suspension design change as well on top of the dry sump/diff....

if Porsche intend to prepare and develop this platform out into motorsport via the GT4 I think that we will see a substantially modified car.
How modified? They're not going to be able to charge mega bucks for it, I doubt that they'll do much more than dry sump the engine and include a diff. Although personally, I'd love to see a substantial modification over and above the std car. Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
