Yup, mine are insisting on a tracker and although it doesn't have to be PVTS it seems the obvious first choice.

Who has access to the data other than cobra? I cant see them sharing it with the police unless of course you have an accident and injure somebody.

I am anti tracker, you can by a tracker blocker for £50, it's a worthless product now and you can also be tracked if speeding !
I share your sentiment. BUT as we all know, many insurance companies will insist on a cat 5/6 tracker.

The Porsche tracker seems the safest bet, but is the most expensive and least useful to the owner I.e no web access for the owner.

you could be in a no fault accident and some one dies, the police will get the tracker info, and you could be in the st even if 5mph over the speed limit.

scary imo.

the bigger point is though pros all have GPS blockers, so the trackers do seem pointless £1k down the toilet.
just find a insurer which does not need a tracker fitted many don't.

Can you provide links to prove of people being charged with speeding due to information garnered by the tracker instead of potential hearsay information?

Can you also point out which insurance companies do not require a tracker on a car with a value of more than 65/70k as the ones I spoke to in the past (maybe I need to move away from specialists) all insisted on a tracker

He doesn't need a tracker James because he's sold his car! I wish the cheeky rascal would leave for good. I and so many others need a tracker. There is so little chance of any data being sent to police in the event of an accident its not worth worrying about.
Its just idiots like him trying to ruin your day.

If you can find a provider that will allow you to have a Cat 6 then its much cheeper at 200 quid or less so almost negligible.

I am with Admiral and they have insured my car with no tracker (its a GT3 not a GT4)

As for MrDemon, I am not sure if he has sold his car, I don't think he has confirmed yet.

P.S.

You are most welcome. As you may have noticed, I was enjoying myself !

As an aside, the car was on standard ARB settings and running as much negative camber as we can whilst retaining reasonable toe, --- did you notice any understeer ?

Hi Chris,

The lateral values seem quite high. Especially given temps and tyre. I'm not questioning your driving at all because I know you are one of the fastest trackday drivers out there.

But what do you feel about the values? Do you feel them completely accurate? Are the they "spikes" of g or does a trace show them as steady state?

Looking forward to getting ours to Oulton on the RS day in March.

Yes he does appear to be dodging the question although on the porsche club forum he indicates he still has it and done 600 miles in it ! This maybe a bit of a red herring so PGB don't find out he has flipped as he has his name down for a 991R (hence new username)to do likewise wink

I think it's a given if some one dies the information will get into police hands, and if you are over the limit game over.

a tracker is no different to this issue
"Motorists who have a “black box” tracking device fitted to their car are having the data handed over to the police and used against them"

The people trolling are the people bringing me up all the time , calling me a tosser and worse + general other stuff, that is what Trolling is about.
5 or 6 guys seem to think it's OK to talk to me in that way which I find odd, but then that's forum user for you I guess.

"Trolling has become a platform and a stage to bombard people with insults, provocations and insulting threatening language"
In real terms it's on line bullying !

It's a shame PH don't see it as an issue and ban the Trolls under Section 127 of the Communications Act 2003.

I did report "Fokker" as an on line Troll but I doubt any thing will happen.
