I have never owned a 996 but I would take a 996 RS in a heartbeat, and have no problem with the looks.
As would I, for many reasons-though none would be for it's looks!

Ugliest 911 ever ? that'd be the work of a certain Mr Gemballa ......

You have to wonder whether he was shot and wrapped in cellophane because of his underworld business activities or his crimes against 911s.

Personally, I'd vote for a vanilla 993...

Not classic 911, not modern take like 996. Just ugly.
That is truly horrible. I have just been sick. Who would design such an abomination?

To be honest I am not super keen on the 993 either. I think the 996 beats it for ugly, but there's not much else 911-wise that isn't better looking in my opinion.

I don't really want to bite on this topic but I'm not a fan of any of the 996 range.

By the looks of things that would be the highest vote for sure smile

It would also be interesting to see comments from 10 years ago or whenever these abominations were created, perhaps they were more 'cool' in their day......

i was never that keen on the 996 shape, but it's really really growing on me now. I was at Le Mans this year and there was a lovely seal grey (?) Carrera 4s parked in Hotel Arbor for the weekend (fellow Pistonheader I think) and it looked absolutely lovely. It was parked next to a silver 997 - now that thing really did make my eyes bleed!

Touché!

I may have found a new winner for me, a Flatnose cab. Flatnose Targa pretty horrendous too (although can only find pictures of diecast models bizarrely). Are these official?!.

Although it gets a lot of stick, I love the look of the basic 996
Agree, I pass about half a dozen 911's whilst out jogging and the one that always catches my eye is a boggo 97 silver Carrera. It looks like a really clean design in the way an old aircooled 911 does without a whale tail. All subjective of course.

Standard 911's ? Can only be the 996, I can never understand it when people put them forward as beautiful/amazing. I've owned a couple and they were fun but I never enjoyed the look.

Completely out of proportion and mix of straight lines and curves is challenging from some angles

Early targa - just looks so crap compared with the coupe.
