Warranty wise it depends on your relationship with your OPC...

Changing the exhaust rear silencer would obviously void any warranty on the exhaust area but non associated parts would still be covered. The other option is to reverse back to the standard silencer if the car was going back to Porsche for any substantial issue as it's a simple job to change back...

Does it change any characteristics of the engine/exhaust eg back pressure and would the ecu log this?

Not that me or Sharkwerks are aware of. Never known any ECU to have the ability to record a simple rear silencer deletion. The stock rear silencer is fairly free flowing in its design anyway so the main improvements on offer are the amazing soundtrack and the weight savings.

Don't know sorry - the saving on a 991 is 16 pounds - not that I care - with my level of driving I wouldn't be able to tell the differance frown

16 lbs weight saving on the 997.2 GT3!

More info and videos here:
http://www.sharkwerks.com/products.php?pid=153

We have a 997.1 GT3 system being made to order for us now for a UK customer along with the black ceramic tailpipe kit. Expect this early in January.

Best videos are in a post below : RushSpeed on Dec 14 Th.

Basically , it now sounds like a full on raspy boxer engine - I don't want to become an exhaust bore (too late - sorry) but I know how fanatical a lot of GT3 owners are and in my view this is the cherry on an amazing cake ! I just can't believe that the engineers wouldn't make the car sound like this if worldwide regs allowed it - it simply sounds "right" . I guess all the middle muffler does is just that , takes away the pure sound of the exhaust : I'm posting this as I love my GT3 - best car I've ever had and I know lots of other owners feel the same way and I feel like I've added something that has unbelievably made what I thought couldn't be improved , even better - it really adds value to the emotional experience of driving the car . I guess the only way to get sound like this without the SW is to drive the card very hard , which just isn't possible on most roads , most of the time - the SW , gives you this experience much lower down the rev range.

I'll shut up now smile

I have to admit that the videos do sound incredible, and if the system is appropriately quiet when the exhaust is 'turned off' then it is very tempting.

Do you have anything in writing from SharkWerks or Porsche about warranty implications or is it purely 'word of mouth' and 'common sense'.....???

Hi Sid. It is louder when SE not on but only a tiny bit .

Re warranty , purposely didn't ask - head firmly in the sand - I didn't want to know in case this stopped me doing it : the lack of noise with the SE off or on was annoying me - let me know what they say smile

I was under the impression that RSVP911 had had the same warranty concerns as me, so I'd hoped he had something to put my mind at rest!

My car doesn't have deviated stitching, so why would I want the exhaust to? It makes no sense...

Cheers thanks for letting me know - sure it will be fine otherwise there would be lots of on line chatter about issues - very hard to find this though smile
Try these clips for size from friends across the pond:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9liXAevfMtA&fe...

Had mine since August and certainly no regrets. The OEM exhaust too “normal” for my liking - do what you feel in this instance, all emotional but at least it can be reversed if not to your liking. A 991 GT3 needs to be seen and certainly heard!!
Hats off to Matt Moreman for doing those video's. For someone purchasing that covered all aspects of what you are about to receive. Amen.

Not enough manufacturers do same sort of in depth coverage of how it will sound. So good work on his part to take the time and effort.

However, I have to say to my ears the sound is too gravelly. Too flatulent.

Chris Harris old GT3 sounded more 6 pot like

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3Pb1bLnPFk

Of course he changed it as was too noisy day to day. Then sold the entire car of course smile

Me I like the AWE exhaust, here on a more bog 991

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWAKGmF2AaE

I really like that. However it's all in the ear or eye of course.

What's the going rate for 991 GT3 SW supplied and fitted? My local Porsche indie have quoted 1950...reasonable?
