After another comical but indefensible customer service fail from an OPC, they offered to rebook my car and collect it from me to save dropping it off.

Besides my obvious answer of no, I am wondering how many of you let Jack the lad come to your home or place of work to collect your car.

I appreciate Jack drives and works on these cars 5 days a week, but I'm almost 60 miles from my local dealer and that to me sounds like too much potential for a Jack to have some fun at my expense.

I hate sounding cynical, but its bad enough having to use an OPC to keep the extended warranty nevermind let their employees do considerably mileage the my car.

Not sure where you're based but the driver's at my centre are employed to do just that - collect and deliver professionally. Their jobs depend on the quality of their driving and they do not work on the cars unless a customer has a related issue (hardtop fitting; system settings and the like). All employees are periodically assessed by the PEC driving consultants and graded accordingly. Technician grading includes elements of advanced driving too.

Most centres having covered or trailer transport facilities - would that be the option to chase?

Not a chance. Especially with all the over rev crap.

It’s an interesting point to consider, but is the trailered transport not for more prestigious models?

I won’t be entertaining that OPC again anyway; fool me once, fool me twice, fool me three times and I suppose you could say I should have expected nothing different.

The service manager comes and picks up my car and often delivers it when it is done.

They had to return mine to me once as I had to go away on business, but never again when they commented that the garage was a bit tight!!!!!!

I could hardly get in the door the way they parked it whereby usually I have no problems at all!!

If I lived 60 miles away from the dealer I would jump at the offer. My experiences mirror what Pope says above - but then I use the dealership he works for.

When Porsche Assist took my GT3 away Hatfield sent a driver up with the Courtesy car and I dropped him off at the local train station... He was an old boy that did the job for some pin money... Most definitely NOT PEC trained/assessed or anything. He just drove theirs and customers cars about.

Trailered transport or take it yourself.

No chance.

I have witnessed numerous OPC sales guys doing launch starts in 'cold' cars shortly after setting off. I would not trust any 'test driver' either when my p and j is having repairs service or warranty work. Request to accompany them.....after all they have nothing to hide...have they...scratchchin

Rather than assume who is going to pick up your car, have you actually thought to perhaps ask?!

At my OPC (Tonbridge) it is the service manager or one of the old retired guys they use (pretty much the norm).

+1

An OPC technician put some range 1 and 2 over-revs on my 997 GT2 whilst it was in having a suspension issue diagnosed. His excuse was he was warming the car up and accidentally hit the rev limiter, the problem with that excuse is that the range 2 and 1 hits had a gap between the time stamps, so it was hitting the limiter on at least 2 occasions, all in a drive no longer than 5 miles. To hit the limiter like this on the roads near to the OPC show a clear lack of road manners and respect for my car.

The car is always checked in and out now with over-rev reports, I wouldn't trust anyone driving it after that.

I come back to my point that it's just a car.

Try as might, I can't bring myself to give even a mouse-sized st about whether Aaron from after sales gives it some beans once a year on its trip to the garage and back. At the end of the day, these are supposedly well engineered cars - they aren't made out of unicorn tears and small children's dreams; they'll take a fair amount of stick without any harm being done.

I think some of you guys need to lighten up a bit....
