Hi there , 911 (991) C2S , sitting up in my garage for the winter - thought it a good idea to charge the battery and when doing so I noticed this - looks like strange wire erosion (chewing?) Does anyone know what this part does , looks like maybe it's part of the alarm system ? Am I allowed to deny all knowledge of said fault and pretend I never saw it or does it need sorting - Cheers smile

Could be you've got a resident rodent as they love to nibble at electrical cables.

If it is related to the alarm and you've declared an alarm system to your insurers, then you need to get it fixed as it could invalidate your policy in the event of a claim.

I'd say it's 99% certain to be a rodent.smash

Ive had a few customers cars where 9 times out of ten they have also started eating the cabin filter, under the cover where the washer filler pipe is. Worth a check also

I'm an arable farmer, I've a constant battle with our little furry friends around electrics on machinery. Take it from an "expert" that's definitely not corrosion- its eaten!

Definite rodent, either get a BBC (Big Black Cat) or mouse trap with mars bar or snickers.

You could, but at least you could try insulating the wires with a rag soaked in petrol.

I just happen to watch Ed Chin on the TV, the M3 they were fixing had a rodent nest behind the rear seats ....

Think you need to confirm it is gone from your car!

Put some poison down wrapped in paper, they like to nibble it for some reason.

We have an issue with mice at work in the canteen. We have put several mouse traps down using mars bars as bait.
Ray a long standing employ said just Friday. Guvnor we need bigger mice. They are nicking the bits of mars bar and not setting off the traps.

I found evidence of mouse activity in the garage and it became a Tom & Jerry'like obsesion to get rid of the little blighters before they took a liking to the 993 in the corner. furious

Every conceivable hole was blocked/filled around the garage (not easy bearing in mind they can get through a gap not much bigger than the size of a pencil), whilst seemingly constantly vacuuming up droppings. I got one (I had seen 2) with a poison bait trap and also put down a traditional spring trap, but the remaining one was obviously smarter (than me...?) and managed to pull the chocolate off and got away despite springing the trap. Only a couple of days later it was on its little back with its toes curled up. bounce I found myself punching the air and shouting "yes" out loud......

Let that be a lesson to mice every where - only get near my Porsche if you're prepared to fight. Sorry, do you think it got to me? No more mouse activity so far and no damage to the car.woohoo
