The white car is at silverstone GP circuit today...
That car is bad karma for weather I'm telling you. It was there on the goldtrack silverstone day in october when it was equally pouring with rain (and just after a fabulous day just before!).... A bit disconcerting to hit a lake on the Wellington straight and the car twitch at 90+ mph
...not to mention driving behind a trail of cars and being able to only make out the one immediately in front of me...the rest lost in spray...including a few Caterhams with no rear lights!
...anyway, back end of the day was ok (911 GB must have taken a break )...practiced slides and catches at the end

He's not working with Drive any more. He's launching his own free-to-view channel in the next week or so.
so what happen to all the people who paid the 12 months to watch CH on drive after he left here ?do they get a refund ?
I was lucky not to sign up.
He's already on Goodwood RR https://grrc.goodwood.com/road/news/exclusive-chri...
That's where his vids will be I believe.
I saw the white 4.0 litre RS. Looked lovely. I was in the black and silver 3.2 Carrera Super Sport. Horrible day but nice to get some running in the wet on the 888's. The car has been in for some major fettling. So no races this year. Today was a big thank you to a good couple of mates that have been a very big help with the car. So today was really about taking them out, their day. Neither has been in a car on circuit with me before. Plus the missus. Last time she got in a race car with me was at Spa in 1996. A good day had by all

Don't know what's gone on with the drainage at Silverstone this year, never seen it so bad, I was there on the Above, hanger st was like a river going across it, even in a Turbo S, very hard work.....graemel said:

Agreed, track conditions were awful then (long before the morning session was red flagged). There was actually a river going across at the start of hangar just after the exit from becketts! Lasource - you're a brave man going out on cup2s as I'm guessing conditions were similar to oct...

I was on Cups 2s 2 weeks ago on the gold track day and whilst better than Cup 1s the sliding around was still unbelievable. Supersports way better!

Yesterday the spray reminded me of f1 levels of bravey could not see past the car in front (sometimes not even the car in front!). Disconcerting when there are small caterhams with small or no lights lost in the spray mist.
Also Silverstone has a very different grip characteric in the wet - where there is grip, where it is slippy, etc. Maggots is a funny one - throw it in just off line, the front wheels set for turning but the car just understeers on the super slippy old tarmac....but it's a leap of faith, as once it understeers past the apex and approaches the outside of the bend, the front suddenly grips and the car turns....!
Having said that, once the constant rain subsides and the pools go away, I think the wet makes Silverstone a far safer place to test/learn wet braking (pre ABS cut in) and low grip slip and slide as the corner speeds are 50% or less of the dry speeds. I had a ball in the afternoon catching drifts and learning how to catch the rear end of a 911 once it starts to slide.
Was also keen to test the cup 2s in the wet. They were fine...given the conditions. My AD08s have been grippier in the past but then the ambient was also a lot lower yesterday which probably does not help.
(Not sure what all this has to do with the 911 GB pres car!)

Agree, drainage an issue. Places like club, Wellington, old pit straight, hanger straight (I think that's 80% of the track ) collect pools of water under constant rain.

I have D2s on my car in Spain, I was round Ascari last month, it rained whilst I was out on track at one point, when it rains out there it does know how to rain, the car felt like it was on "winters", in the dry when warm MPCs just have the edge imv, seem to sit all-day once adjusted...Yesterday the spray reminded me of f1 levels of bravey could not see past the car in front (sometimes not even the car in front!). Yep all the troops were entertained. Even the missus is still on a high from it.
I am equally as bad at not saying hello to anyone I don't already know. Catch you next time
