Does anyone have any idea why they have disappeared as an option and if they'll be making a return any time soon?

Many thanks

I struggle to see why you would want them on a Cayenne?

You can never stop quick enough, they are still on the builder

Not that I can see? Just doesn't appear as an option, which my OPC confirmed but they didn't know why or if they'd come back.

there's an argument that you probably need them more on a cayenne, you've got 2 tonnes of mass to bring to a halt, compared to say 1.4 for a 911 or whatever they weigh now.

Would they not get ruined the first time you took the car off road?

Why do people think that something will stop in less distance if the brakes are ceramic rather than steel?

And to expand that - when the car is that much heavier, the few kilos of weight saving becomes even less relevant.

....because some people can't resist the hype? Brake discs are rarely, if ever, the limiting factor on braking performance on a modern vehicle.

Where did I say that ? I was referring more to brake fade .

What's so funny?

Debris and ccbs do not mix.

Oh, I guess you mean hell never take it off road.

Exactly that. Not the OP (who am I to say whether he'll take it off road or not), but your typical Cayenne owner.

Which is a function of adequacy of cooling, not necessarily material. Case in point that the ceramics on selected Mercs and Lamborghinis have been known to ignite before the steels on Porsches will fade... Braking issues are a function of the design of the system and if done properly are a function of tyres, not disks.

The relevance on vehicle like a Cayenne is the reduced brake fade. Particularly, in the alpine regions, driving quickly in a high performance SUV will result in massive thermal disc temperatures, which ceramics are better able to contain.

Having driven both with and without I would personally go for one with pccb, regardless of any explanations as to why they are no better than steel, although it seems looking up stuff it depends on the make and car as some cars with ceramics do stop shorter vs those without .

Have never understood the fuss with Porsche doing fabulous brakes. The 'big reds' on any Porsche i've driven feel no better than your average car. However, the PCCBs feel instantly better and more confidence inspiring.

On that note, can you get PCCBs on the Macan as i'm thinking of getting a Turbo as my daily?

I agree PCCB's are much better, having tried both. You get much more feel and instant bite IMHO.

Yes available on Macan, 8 week delay for PCCB on the Cayenne Turbo but will be available again.

Thanks
