I haven't driven a gen 2 on passives but I doubt that the difference would be that marked - although I cannot be entirely objective. For me, there was a reason that the motorsport department were loath to use a 3.8 version of the engine for a long time and the reasons are well recorded. It is the 3.6 engine with the vast majority of tested track miles under it's belt. That unit is tried and tested and thats good enough for me. Please do not mis-interpret my view. I have no solid reason to suspect that the 3.8 engine would be anything other than reliable. The extra torque would be useful but mainly on the road. On the track there would be little in it. Like all Gt3 development, the difference between the Gen 1 and Gen 2 997 was incremental but since the differences are mainly to do with getting the PASM system to work properly, they are somewhat pointless for the exercise of creating a passive 997.

I think that a Gen 1 could be transformed into a stunning road/track car for less money than the cost of fitting an unpronounceable exhaust system
Cheers for that, much appreciated. Something to look out for over the winter then I think! (and if I ever do put the gen 2 RS on ohlins just to see what the height of 997 road car platform development can do, you're welcome to have a go in the car as I would be pretty interested as well by what you think).

This thread will probably help the sale of the Intrax passives in the 997 GT3 classifieds. smile

(I have no connection to the seller)

Hi Imi,

Indeed mate I trailer it around mainly due to my addiction of running the car on slicks, the exception being the ring as its not worth it. But also to keep the miles down as its a one owner car, original panels and never raced or rallied wink

... please post more BBS F1 pics !

I know your car well mate. I used to work with the first owner and know how much time and effort Parr have put into it. Its a very special car. Does you other GT3 get a look in nowadays?!

smile

A friend is interested in the Red car. Aparently Hong Kong import and taxes need paying on it. He says it's around £200k all in

6RS- can someone explain why RHD cars are cheaper than the LHD examples, when the opposite is true for every other RS?

I don't put too much weight behind mileage but blimey at 3405 miles, the red one is pretty much a box fresh 996RS.

am not sure they are selling at these prices, last summer you could still have one below 100k euros and the most expensive was about 150k I think. it might just be people trying to establish new pricing level for lhd

Sorry, don't get that ? The last car JZM sold (the blue and white one with 20+k miles up it) was up at £120k, it sold eventually. Previous lower mileage examples were up at £150k ?
On what basis are the prices coming down ? confused
