As a pure trackday car the rules change of course as you never quite seem to have enough power on track but then can the S actually make it onto any UK circuits, noisy days or otherwise ?
I think he mentions towards the end of the video that it is too noisy to take on track. That being the case, one does wonder what the benefits of ownership of a car like this really is. You clearly can't, to use your phrase, 'wring its neck' on the roads, and if you can't take it on track what does that leave? I guess there are a few European circuits you could take it to, but that can get pricey in terms of time and cost.Carl_Docklands said:
Drive through Wales to Anglesey. Do track day at Anglesey, drive back from Anglesey via Northen England and Scotland. rinse, repeat.
Going to need more than one set of tires....and not sure i'd be keen on Sport Cup 2s for the road runs.....when wet & cold. Store tires at Anglesey? at least with the Speciale...you don't have to deal with centerlocks...

Well the mag tests have been done on at least 3 UK tracks with the Speciale, I have been on Silverstone with one. It should be OK for 105db days, it's not that loud! (quiet compared to my CS )
I saw a 458 tested at Goodwood a couple of years ago, recording 114db in the static test at 3/4 revs.V8KSN said:
I don't understand why they are comparing the two, the Speciale should be compared against the 991 GT3 RS (when it comes out)
But if they wait for the GT3RS then they may as well wait for the 458 replacement, or they could wait for the Huracan Superleggera, or maybe the new baby McLaren......I guess in theory the RS should have been out before now, and therefore we'd be watching that contest instead.
In it's absence the standard GT3 seems to be one of the next best cars around at the moment, so might as well maximise the magazine sales and drum up some hype and controversy etc.
I'm sure once the Special is eventually up against the RS, we'll see a headline such as 'Special finally meets it's match' or something along those lines.
There's no doubt it seems a pretty special car, and if I'd had a completely spare £250k I might even have bought one.

Is the RS its truest AB equivalent ?
Personally ive always seen the CS/SCUD as being GT3 rivals. Ferrari just don't make anything as hardcore as an RS (esp on the spring rates front).
And if the rumour mill is to be believed, this forthcoming RS is set to be the most balls out of them all, greatly distanced from the vanilla car. My hunch is it will very comfortably trump the S and have even more hyperbole lavished upon it.

Whilst the Spz is a great car, it wont be a match for the 991RS, the only one to come close to the RS will be the new GT3/Road car from Mac....In it's absence the standard GT3 seems to be one of the next best cars around at the moment, so might as well maximise the magazine sales and drum up some hype and controversy etc.

Would you be referring to the 650 variant, or the new Sports Series ??
Think the Sports Series has its work cut out, Porsche own the Sector, if the 650 @ 250k can not match the 100k GT3 don't see how the new car will fly...From what from I hear the 650/GT3 road variant will be a very very quick car.....
