So as much as I like my 5 series touring, time to move into something else for next year, and have managed to persuade the wife that a Cayenne is the way to go. The turbo is definitely looking like the most fun, 500bhp and a v8 in one package, superb, but decent turbo's phase 1 seem to be around 16k - 25k and that's out of budget, i was hoping to spend around 15k max. Will I be looking at the bad end of turbos for 15k, is the phase 2, 3.2 or the S better for that money. Do the second series Cayennes not have the same engine issues as the early ones, if they don't then maybe the Cayenne S is the better way to go as it's newer and slightly sharper looks? Just need some advice on what to buy for 15k! I have been reading the 3.2's are underpowered and i really want something practical that i can have a blast in if the feeling takes me, so think the 3.2 maybe out the window. Any advice on which model for the money is best would be helpful

also, is mileage a bad thing, was looking for 50k mileages, as want to keep it for about 3 years or so, and didn't fancy high miles

When i bought mine i was told to avoid early turbos and the v6 and get an S, preferably MY2006 or the facelift. Also make sure its had the ali cooling pipes done and has AIR.

Amazing cars. Was tempted to get a 2012 Turbo but just went the opposite way to you and got an M5.
