Again, that looks so easy. But all I know is that Jordan enjoyed this ride above the 996 and 997 so what do I know?
Maybe I have been superseded?
The car certainly has a lot more to offer in the braking zones and faster corners, but I was being fairly sympathetic with it being the car's first outing. It's certainly more composed than my 997 was perhaps adding to the effect and it is without doubt easier to pull a paddle than stomp on the clutch and wiggle a stick, but the car rewards in so many other ways that it's no less fun in reality.Maybe I have been superseded?

Fair enough, I havent driven one, so cant really comment. You left it in auto because its faster? Thats what Walter says.Forgive me, but it just looks so easy. You dont even need much steering input.
Or, have I got it all wrong?

No I drive it in manual mode, I don't like it in auto. It has better turn in and the wheel steer means that it's a little less 911-ish, but I wouldn't say it needs any less steering input. If I was driving it harder and getting it loose then there's be more to see I guess.Forgive me, but it just looks so easy. You dont even need much steering input.

Bit more here. I tried sticking it in manual mode after Gareth suggested I gave it a go, but I wasn't keen and quickly changed back to manual mode as you'll see:

Sorry, I must be daft but I cant see you pressing any micro switches, its in auto isnt it? Bit more here. I tried sticking it in manual mode after Gareth suggested I gave it a go, but I wasn't keen and quickly changed back to manual mode as you'll see:

It is pretty short. In that last video I switch over to auto mode following a suggestion by Gareth along Lakeside, then flick over to manual for Shell Oils Corner, back to auto and back to manual for Britton's. I soon decide that I don't like it and go back to constant manual mode (see gear selector pushed over to the left). If you watch my left knuckles into braking zones and right fingers on the straits you can see me moving the paddles, but I must admit, it's very subtle and in some cases not noticeable... but why would I be lying about it?!
First class trackday. Proper cars ,proper driving, proper etiquette.
Huge thanks to 9M for helping me out when my L/H radiator let go on track.
Quick ( sl panicy ) phone call to Colin Belton at 9M got the rads and coolant ordered ( decided the R/H rad was ready to pop too ) , my mate was in the area so he delivered them to Oulton.
The real guardian angels were Rob and his younger assistant ( didn't get his name) who stripped the front and got dirty changing the rads, both 9M employees and very experienced with 996 rad problems
Apols to anyone who slipped a bit on my coolant late morning - I didn't mean it and had a proper moment myself at Knickerbook slipping on my own coolant.
Car all sorted and back on track for 3.30. Cheers 9M and everyone who lent tools, advice and kept me calm.

Thanks for pax laps AJ! Very kind to share some of your day letting some others bask in the 9k rpm glory
I think you seemed a lot more comfortable just keeping it in manual mode all. Using manual in corners and auto on straights n braking may work for some but would need fair bit practice so I think you were right to only try it on 2 or 3 corners. See you soon hopefully

It was great to have you onboard Ian, just a shame we didn't get to head out again. We'll have to meet up for a drive some time.. get some more miles on that car of yours!I think you seemed a lot more comfortable just keeping it in manual mode all. I bet Angelsey was stunning today, I'd have been there had I not had other commitments.
Not sure if Jordan's dad is on here, but here's the vid of her pax laps as promised. Hope she enjoyed the day:

Video from the footage I shot for you all. A bit jerky in places I'm afraid, but can't get the tripod set up on pit wall! Some great cars (that CGT sounded stunning) and friendly people. If anyone wants to see if I've got some specific footage of their car, drop me a PM. Happy to edit a video together for you if I've got some.
