you would in this case be able to reclaim the VAT paid originally in the EU country of origin though in this case rather than having to have paid VAT twice inside the EU?
Respectfully Isa

If the person in the UK is a private individual that is importing the car from say Spain, how can the UK individual claim back the VAT paid in the member stage of supply? unless they are registered in that country of supply for taxable supplies, ie VAT......

As for the point with regard to the Halo cars, ie the GTS Turbo S etc being available early on in the run, that's because the 991 platform is a much longer run than the 6/7s, if they wanted till the end of the run to bring em out, they would just be outdated in relation to counter parts...along with tech is moving forward at a very fast pace now days..

With respect David, I dont doubt at all about these being halo cars I am simply pointing out that into 3 years or so into the 991 'platform' there has been already a large choice of cars available- c2/c4/c2s/c4s, turbo/turbo s/gts/gts4/targa and now targa gts. With the engine being replaced early on in the GT3 that delayed plans for then the RS - so much so it seems they have not seemingly used a 'beefed up' 9A1 unit but something new - I am sure to certain extents it will be similar but it has been enough to make them go back to the drawing board so to speak. So if you are indeed correct and the 991 platform will be far longer than the 996 and 997 were, it simply does not make sense for them not to do another NA GT3.
Bert,
I fully agree with and follow your reasoning as set out above. Albeit, I think you will find it will be more clear around the time of the RS announcement....I hope its not long now

Fair point, one would have to buy a VAT qualifying car from a dealer I suppose if that is the case.

I have just been informed by a very reliable independent Porsche dealer that he has 2-3 regular customers who want to pay 100k premium for the new RS!! What will the list price be approx 160-170k.? Making the RS worth 260k to flip, plus how much better can this car be to the current 991 GT3 I ask you?

And this is why the RS can only have a positive effect on the 991 GT3's values not negative as some posters seem to think.

I see the 4.0RS and the 991 GT3RS at the same prices very quickly and that will make gt3's look amazing value at half that price.

Jesus!!! If that's true and they DO go for £260k odd nearly new then the market has disappeared up its own arse!

House prices gone mad ,car prices gone mad reminds me of the late 80s and early 2000s this is why it's always better spend your hard earned cash in a recession and save in an upturned economy !
So how long to the next crash? Well if labour get in not too long then a 991gt3 will be had for a packet of biscuitsbiggrin
Seriously my point is these prices won't last forever but it also means although they might crash they may also come back higher!

Think you will find that with the right bits list is a bit more than the above.....this is what I am saying the RS will pull the GT3 up, ie the RS will be very hard to get hold of, so the next car to this is the GT3,

The Vat Q rules vary a bit between member states, they all have to work to the 6th directive, but its up to each member on how they do this, however the over riding principle is the same...

best way, from an individual point if below 6k miles and from a dealer, ask if the VAT has been paid in the selling member state......if over 6k miles the point does not arise...

If buying from another member state for the purpose/ intention of taxable supply, ie business to business transaction, then the supply should be zero rated....But if its a used vehicle in another member state it has to have started life and be at the time the supply is made a VAT Q.....vechile

Fun eh.....

Gen2 GT3 likely 2018 just been told
That's a long wait and won't impact of the current model. Just makes it even rarer

I wonder what Porsche will do with RS pricing in the UK, given the Euro's recent loss of value?

The 918 was priced and fixed in Euros at outset, which is a nice bonus for late UK purchasers.

Now, will Porsche look at relative UK v Euro prices of 997, 991Gt3 etc and then price the 991RS RHD at a disproportionately high level in sterling (quids...)?

I do not understand this market (does anyone?), so unwise to put to work in that sector. wink
Uncharted territory esp. UK car values - GT4 at list is compelling.

Depending on what GT4 list is!! If £10k over GTS, reasonably hardcore and under 250 for UK it will be good news....yes

Most likely to be announced in 2016 after all the Gen 1 991 RS's have been delivered. I say late 2016/ early 2017 delivery if true to form from prior years.
