I have just spoken with Porsche insurance re upping the cover to £160k, they will do this fro a modest extra cost but the excess will go up to £2k form £450!! - Crazy
Try Lockton or Mannings (I have 4 cars insured with the former), they're good value esp if you do track days and they provide similar cover so you can play one off against the otherBieldside said:
Yes just gone to £150,000 at a modest increase
Beyond that the underwriters require a higher excess if upped to £160,000 which I expect is reasonable due to the higher risk involved
But at £40,000 over list (on average) can we complain?

Will be interesting to see where prices go over next couple of months. GT4 already stolen the show and with RS coming March GT3 will be relegated to 3rd most talked about Porsche. With limelight gone I can see prices falling back quickly.
I see the opposite.......The RS will be almost unobtainable for most....if what we are told is right its 100k overs from the off. Just look how few GT3 are for sale, no ones selling.....GT3 will go higher. GT4 has it own customer range....not even in the same conversationEdited by APOLO1 on Friday 6th February 08:05

If the numbers are as limited as the 4.0 £100k over won't even get you into a new RS. Those buyers will need to cough up RHD 4.0 money to get into one - £300-500k for the latest and greatest toy.
Anyway forgetting 'values' smalltalk the 991 GT3 is TWO years old so it can't stay at the top of the forums, though I bet there's nothing out there that engages you in the same way as this Epic car
I really need to drive one of these to see if I like them.
Regardless, if you can get that much for your RHD, would it not make sense to sell and buy a LHD example - pocket the RHD premium now, take advantage of favourable FX rate and still have the same car?
LHD GT3 RSs (996 and 997) seem to have followed the RHD cars up eventually if not to the same extent (996 RS is the exception to the rule I believe as those are actually pricier as LHD). UK just seems to be ahead (timing and price) of the rest of Europe usually due to limited numbers. As the 991 GT3 supposedly is the third rarest GT/RS (Sport Auto figures), it might only be a matter of time until LHD cars stop falling / start rising as well - maybe the market will see it as the first of a new breed of GT cars, similar to how the 996.1 GT3 is now seen. In a downside scenario where the market does not see them that way, but rather as a prelude to the 991 RS etc, you have taken some profit off the table and thereby limited your financial downside.
All purely looking at the financial aspects obviously (driving experience of LHD should not be worse imo and I think you probably get a 90L tank (at least my 997 has one), which is nice to have)

Totally agree. LHD and RHD historically always seem to converge. There's a massive opportunity here for RHD owners to cash in / protect themselves financiallyAPOLO1 said:

I can see this being correct, this time next year 190k will look cheap for a 991GT3

If it actually is 38x RS that come to the UK, that could make things interesting.
There were more 918 than that delivered to Uk customers, quite a few of them might be disappointed not to get a car?
