Hi All,

I wonder if I can ask some advice?

I have a 2002 911 996/3.6 Carrera 4 with the Bose Sound System and Sat Nav.

I had the Parrot Mki9100 hands free kit fitted as I really like the system as I have it in my other car.

Problem is that the fitter can not get rid of the high pitched whine when revving the engine and using the phone, he has spent about 2 weeks researching with a number of people and none of them can come up with a solution, so he removed the kit today as he was totally lost as to a solution.

I've rung around today and spoken to a few people and have been told to fit the CK3100 hands free kit and a separate kit for my iTouch to link in as the problem so I am told is the audio interface.

Has anyone any ideas as to a proper solution to get the 9100 working, one company reckons he can hard wire some filters into the system that should work or reduce the feedback considerably.

I'd welcome any ones thoughts, I'm based in the West Midlands.

Many Thanks.

I don't have a solution, however I have had the same experience albeit with a much cheaper solution.

Not long after I got my 996 turbo, I bought a bluetooth module that connected to the aux in of the stereo - obviously not for hands free, but for streaming music from my phone. I had exactly the same - a whine which increased with engine revs. Very annoying, and in the end I binned it.

I've since replaced the head unit (my car is just pre-MOST) and don't have any problems with the hands free on a dedicated head unit.

Thanks Dave,

A company in Redditch called AutoTec http://www.myvehicle.uk/ say that they can fit a module that dispenses with any problems, they did admit that they have had a few clients come to them with the problem and that they have managed to sort it out.

I'm going to drop it down to them on Monday to have a look and then return the following Monday for them to fit.

Of course I could fit the Panasonic Double Din System, but I quite like to keep the originality of the Bose system.

BTW what does Pre-MOST mean?

Around 2003 (my 2002 996 turbo is pre-most, by 2003 Cayenne is MOST) Porsche started fitting their cars with a stereo system that was on a fibre optic loop. Cars with that fibre optic system are MOST (can't remember what it stands for).

Basically it means : If your car is late enough to be MOST, you cannot simply swap the head unit with something else, because amp / speakers probably also need changing.

I had the same problem with a mki9200 that I fitted myself in my e36. I haven't done anything about it yet but I wondered about fitting some of those magnetic suppressors from laptop power cables and maybe using more heavily shielded audio cables. Love to know if you solve it and how.

I'll report back if they manage to fix it.

Whenever i had a problem with connectivity/functionality on my Parott system - replacing the small battery in the remote control unit generally fixed the problem. Has to be worth a try i'd have thought if you haven't already.

Apologises for the late reply, I have been snowed under and a business trip to the States didn't help.

I finally was recommended Auto Tec, Walkwood Farm, Morton Lane, Redditch, Worcestershire, B97 5QA Tel: - 01527 546582

Booked in and 3 hours later the lads had fitted and got it working perfectly, no hum, no feedback, it's a tiny bit quiet when you are on full throttle, but there again any system would be.

Plays all my music from my iPhone 6 brilliantly and easy to control, I'm so glad that these lads knew their stuff to get it fitted properly.

No, I don't believe they fitted any suppression, they said they identified the correct outputs
