I would have to say use it and enjoy it as much as you possibly can. If (protecting) the value is a big issue, sell it and cash in now and get something you don't mind using as much as possible.

Time is our most valuable item - not the value locked in a car. To not use the time to the max would be a huge regret. I say this having had a mate pass away in his early 40s. You live once, as long as you're not being irresponsible with finances, enjoy it.
Well said, that man. thumbup

My longest and best friend has cancer, he's 48 and I'm hoping he'll pull through.

We have always lived for the moment and expected to live forever but this is a real shock and has made us think twice - I know it happens, my Dad had it and lost and I've got other friends/collegues who have personally had this nasty, nasty fecking disease and they seem to be o the mend thank God.

It's made me think and remind me you only live once and your time on this planet is almost certainly out of your control and you never knwo what's around the corner.

Anyway, less of the sob story, buy a great car and enjoy a great car yes I hope to see a few around and on track and think one day I'll have one and thrash the fecker to within an inch of my driving ability wink

There is a big delta between asking price and selling price

I don't know of any cars that have gone for more than 162K, (some may have I just haven't seen it)

I50k is a good trade bid for CS with PCCB, lift etc.

Good points raised reminding us time is our most important asset.

The arrival of the RS will push the price one way or the other nobody knows, it only takes 4 or 5 new cars to hit the market at 170k plus and not sell to push the market down pretty quickly. It also only takes one to sell at 170+ to push the market the other way.

I think we will all be surprised by the performance figures of the RS and the price smile

I think if we are lucky enough to see an RS come to the open market in the next 3-4 months it could be in the region of 260-270k plus. Let's see what the list price is first.

To answer F1TUK I personally think 991GT3's will occupy this price bracket of circa £180k. No more cars being built, no one will get an RS and rumour has it no gen 2 models will be available as porsche will build GT2 instead. I don't want to get into the discussion of whats better but last summer I had to sell either the GT3 or my Speciale (had too many cars) and it was the Speciale that was moved on.
Amazing!
Yes it is, come on Kav1, spill the beans. Pray tell what was wrong with the Speciale ?
Carl, nothing wrong at all with Speciale. In fact I really liked it. It's faster even than the GT3 but was it worth more than double the money - not for me. I'm a Porsche man at heart (also got a GT4 and 991RS coming) and the GT3 is just better suited to sustained track work. The GT3 is also more comfortable on the motorway and in most hands quicker on track as it is much more stable. The Speciale feels edgy in comparison and on track you find yourself going sideways an awful lot more than you would in the Porsche when you are really on it. Going back the the thread topic - spoke to the guy who's owns the £180k car. He's had 2 serious calls and fully expects it to be gone by the end of the week!

What with an awful lot of people moaning about not being able to get a GT4 let alone a 991RS, how on earth did you manage to get both?

Did you buy a 918 or something?

Is that because it's a VAT qualifying car so really £144k or less by the time he takes a bid ?

So why is the JZM blue 4.0l 997 RS taking so long to sell at 375K is it because it's just to much?

Please take mine for £180k then. Same spec as above but it's a 2015 car with less miles, sport chrono and GT silver. You can make £20k by next Tuesday afternoon.
