I am interested though in how you get around paying duty on importing cars from america
If you are resident in a country outside the EU for at least 12 months and then move to the UK you can bring a car with you without having to pay any duty or VAT on it if you have owned it for at least 6 months overseas and keep it for at least 12 months in the UK.APOLO1's comment about 6k kms is only relevant if importing a car from another EU member country, where you have to pay full UK VAT if the car you import is less than 6 months old and has done fewer than 6k km, as it is then still classed as a new car for tax purposes.

And also IIRC you need to have proof you paid vat on your purchase of the car in the overseas countryI did this with my 599 GTO and 16M when moving back from Switzerland

With regard to Eu.Just think of the 6k Km as the 1st point, I found a perfect CGT last year, 04, done 2k Km, but the VAT on top just priced it out, looks cheap now though....APOLO1's comment about 6k kms is only relevant if importing a car from another EU member country, where you have to pay full UK VAT if the car you import is less than 6 months old and has done fewer than 6k km, as it is then still classed as a new car for tax purposes.

Sorry if this has been posted previously but with 15 low mileage 991 gt3 at opc is this car really that unloved or are they extremely overpriced and the price crash is set to come!
Yes........everyone wants to suddenly offload the most unloved, mundane, hated and derided car for years resulting in gross oversupply and cataclismic price falls.............in fact the 2008 financial meltdown has nothing on this. But wait, owners who may want out could always console themselves by taking a slightly reduced £40k premium instead........:

15 cars for sale at just opc speaks volumes about the love for the car or the price!
i have always loved the car and would have one in a heartbeat but not have driven one i cannot comment on what it is like to drive in the real world but which is it price or drive ?if its a great car why so many for sale no matter how much you can make!

If owners had any sense they would contact each other and let the cars onto the market one at a time... market flood means market crash....... no?
& an even bigger conspiracy.Car are hugely competent and has attracted a new audience, but overpriced at current levels.
Solihull - so many cars? Wonder why?
