Read the thread properly. You seem to have difficulty accepting that anyone might actually find the older RS a more interesting car to drive over the 991gt3......
Alpinestars said:I can safely say it's the most boring GT3 I've driven on the road. It might be a different story on the track, but it lacks the depth of other GT3s to keep it interesting at 5/10ths.
Doesn't make it a bad car, but not as good as the previous generations for road use.
and you seem to have not read the entire thread.

This. You also really have to driven both either a lot over a long period of time or at least back to back to make any kind of sensible comparison. I'm not suggesting that one is "better" than the other in any way as they are very different, but the 997 definitely (IMHO) draws you in more to the whole experience when you drive it. it's not as quick, not as planted on the road, the ride is harsher and you just have to put more in to get something out. I guess thats what it's all about for some and not for others. Also the 997 is done as a series and there's no better one coming out any time soon. Not true of the 991.
Happy motoring to those that have one of either or both. It's a good place to be.

I've owned both at the same time and driven them back to back. The 991 is quicker, but the steering, noise, and manual change make the 7 a better car in my view. The 991 was RELATIVELY boring in comparison. Happy motoring to those that have one of either or both. It's a good place to be.
Never mind the £180k 991 GT3 - the £200k 997 GT3RS has arrived......

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I thought your time in a 991GT3 was zero time on track and 150 miles in London traffic.? this in a del miles car...The reason as to why I question this, is that the engine does not come alive until its run in, at approx 2k miles, even AP said at GFS to expect over 500bhp when run in.
Done 6 or so track days in as many 4.0s, and 4k road miles The only other 997s I have owned have all been Turbos, GT2s,tts, etc.....Whilst I agree the manual shift can be rewarding, but the 991GT3 just moves the game on to completely different level. The 997 GT3 does not even belong in the same conversation imv.....
But each to our own, I understand that........

My friend, you will soon have a different view....interesting yes I agree, as for entertaining rewarding, fun to drive, not even on the same planet...APOLO1 said:

Heh, happy to be proven wrong but.....no car imo is going to be that much better than the 7.2 rs which in many respects is probably the 2nd best car i have driven. Might rent one from rsr or something next time I am at the ring to have a proper go anyway but capable and quick as the 991 gt3 is, still think the older car offers more of what I like in a car these days.APOLO1 said:

I said I'd not driven it on track in my earlier post, and my comments were based entirely on road use. It could have had 800 bhp and not be as engaging as a 7. You've missed the point entirely. The reason as to why I question this, is that the engine does not come alive until its run in, at approx 2k miles, even AP said at GFS to expect over 500bhp when run in.

Most people can say a car is special or not, especially compared to another, within a few miles. If it takes any longer than that to decide if a car is special, I'd suggest it's not that special. I drive the same roads in the 7 as I did in the 991, and I can honestly say that the 7 felt much more special within a minute of driving the 7.
Each to their own.

wow congrats to all you lucky 991 GT3! Driving a brill car and it also doubling in value! I see quite a few being used in town
Took my mate out for a quick blast in mine this morning - low single figure temperatures, so had to be careful - to say he was impressed is a massive understatement. In terms of current pricing, £175k equates to a rental flat providing income and a long-term appreciating asset, rather than the GT3 which is great fun to drive but long-term has to lose money eventually...
I'm guess financially I'm stuck in the middle - not rich enough that I can afford to hold onto the GT3 regardless of what I'm being offered, but rich enough that I don't need to sell to lock in an immediate profit!
However, at some price point my head has to overrule my heart and do the sensible thing...
edited to say If you're ever passing Hatfield Porsche pls take me for a spin too! I've seen a few in London in your colour with PCCB brakes and they have fantastic road presence. Look as hard as nails which is something they have got down to tee on the GT3

Nice looking car, bonkers price imohttp://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...
As the car is PDK what's wrong with LHD, this looks better value, guards red, club sport, £104,000

Now that in a different colour scheme might tempt me to sell the 997.1 Rhd , add a few bob too it and get a LHD 997.2 RS.That's a big jump in car for not a lot of money.
Not sure the LHD would bother me that much, most of the miles I do are in Europe anyway?????
