Pity about your screen S....these things happen unfortunately.

Seem to recollect you are possibly with Admiral who I believe now accept OPC fitted official Porsche screens at no extra cost and without penalty to the insured.

You will most likely have the standard 991 GT3 fitted grey top tint so worth checking that spec windscreen prior to fitting.
Admiral have agreed to an original Porsche screen to be fitted, but their chosen provider (Autoglass) has still not got hold of a windscreen for me and communication has been non-existent.

I've contacted them to see if I can instead use my preferred provider (Glassman - who has been extremely helpful with email responses, despite being away on holiday at the moment) and get them to reimburse the costs, but apparently they will only pay £50 towards the cost if I choose this route.

I presume the correct OEM GT3 windscreen will be many £00's ??

Any advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation?

Thanks

Sorry to go off-topic here but I'm also with Admiral - I've been trying to look into how they deal with cars that have appreciated in value but don't really want to call them to ask - have you asked them about your GT3?

This was discussed in another thread on here - I increased the market value to £150k for a which a nominal additional premium was charged.

Cost of a screen fitted at the OPC is around 850. I think if you haggle hard you might be able to get it done at the dealer. What does the small print say on your policy re windscreens ? They always push for the generic companies that have deals with them but usually for a fee they let you chose your own one. But maybe admiral is different.. Not sure.

See above!

Thanks - I'm going to call Glassman on Monday.

I had to replace my chipped windscreen on my old 997 Turbo and had it replaced for free by Autoglass who cover most new cars for free if I recall. They did a fantastic job. I personally wouldn't worry too much about having it down by whoever your insurer recommends as they would tend to be specialists in replacing screens. I'd only be more concerned about mechanical issues and even with that the OPC isn't always best.

I popped into OPC Colchester today, two GT3s for sale, one at £185K and one at £150K IIRC.

Might have started a new thread - 'The $363,772 GT3 has arrived'. Sounds like a lot but it's 'only' 167k STG due to the heavy depreciation of the Aussie dollar. About 3 years ago, a car at stated price, would have set you back about a quarter of a million STG!

Pics taken in June. Perth, Australia.

Kin 'oath maaaaaaaaate! :-)

Buying anything 'exotic' in Oz (read: European!) is akin to being asked to pay off a third world country's debt. Major protectionist racket. Ah well eh, we've got to offset something against the disparity in the weather haven't we...least we've got cheap motors by comparison!

Is that Perth car new or used?
