I think the issue for most owners of C2 manual 993's is that they know if they sell they are unlikely to acquire another one in the future should they wish without a great deal of difficulty and/or expense.

Even when I was looking in 2005-2008 C2 manual NB coupes were very very rare, even less so if you wanted to specify colour, mileage, AC etc - I lost out on many because I wasn't prepared to place a four figure deposit down on a car unseen! And believe me irrespective of mileage some were seriously ropey and displayed neglect.

I wonder what the recent Paul Stephens 48k silver one went for, knowing PS north of £50k!

As for prices they've only seemingly risen in the past 1-2 years, along with everything else.

This exactly! I've long concluded if I sold mine I'd have to accept I'd never get another.

Same for me too. I'd really like a bit of time in a T350 TVR, but I just know I'l never be able to find another 993 the same as mine and be able to afford it, if I don't like the TVR.

Hankering for a version that handles better?
Thinking of putting together an ultralight track car.
Id like to start with a rough one.
You know.
Something I can just strip of all the jank inside, and make it right.

Is yours for sale?

You are right in that we are not talking GT3 numbers, but if you take away all of the 'other' models and restrict it to a Coupe C2 manual in excellent condition, it starts to get a whole lot more difficult.

Yes, they are out there and they do come up, but all of the guys I know who have them have zero intention of selling!

You know how you can tell a nice one from a slightly more ordinary 911 be it 3.2C, 964 or 993. Find one thats never had its scuttle painted. A time warp car will be original here. wink

Good 911s just get under your skin.
In my experience the 993 is simply one of the best.
They grow on you more and more and I suspect most owners are smitten and don't want to part with them.

Finding a good car is THAT hard though. Even if you compromise on your preferred colour interior and exterior, your preferred drivetrain and pre or post Varioram. Even if you aren't too hung up on mileage. That leaves coupe, cab and targa, manual and tiptronic. There are LOTS of poor cars out there that have not been loved and spent on. I saw a good few of them before buying mine.

If you want a proper car with FULL history, no years where there are no MoTs or servicing skipped and proof of money being spent then your pool to choose from is small. If you want a sub 80k C2 Manual coupe the pool is far smaller still.

Many longer term owners bought when prices started with a 2 or 3. Those days are pretty much gone. Some don't like it but that's the reality.

Anyone seriously looking for one must be on the ball and be ready to move quick when one surfaces.
Almost 3 years ago I was searching the classified just about every hour for a C2 manual.
The one I bought was listed for about 20 mins when I phoned about it.
Next day I travelled over 500 miles by train to see it. I then Inspected it, paid for it and drove it straight home again, all in the same day. It was quite tiring however I got my 993 and it's a keeper.
