A potentially great colour photographed poorly, at least for the first photo, = making it look pretty marmite. A comment on another thread recently gave green 993s a bad name (skittish or something??) - now I see why.

It's all bonkers to me. They aren't making anymore Boxster 986's, but you can't give them away. I don't get it, but we've been here before and people got burnt.
....cos 986 are water cooled, are made of chocolate and they made 2 million gazillion of them . Mkt today is very different to previous mkts, ask dealers how many air cooled are going abroad, especially now China has relaxed import rules on older cars, these prices are realistic.Black_mamba said:

I agree, the water cooled cars seem great value in comparison to the air cooled. In 10 years we will probably be saying how cheap 986/996s were in 2015...
Maybe, maybe not.The 986/996 revolution had to happen, it represented a sea change in Porsches history. But they are very different cars, we can argue all day about their merits but they came from Japanese production methods and cannot be compared to the hand built traditions that were the 993 and everything before.
I see Porsche in 2 eras. Everything up to 1997 and then the revolution after that.
The market is just reflecting this.

If that is the case, then why are 996 turbos on the increase and once that reaches a certain point, values of 996 4S will firm up.
