Can't listen to this rubbish any longer!

I have dealt with Cardiff (Wales) OPC for many many years and they have always acted in a most decent and honest manner. I know who is on the list for the RS cars, and whilst it is a list of usual candidates (me included) they are there because they have supported the dealership and bought many GT, RS and other products over the years. They also would have had their names on the list for many years, never mind 18 months!
Agree, sourced many of my cars from them even though I live in london. Second to none service, they do look after their good customers from personal experience.

So , the "old boy" network in full swing then ? Bad situation but as a good will gesture they should at least do something...... interest refunded or some other sweetener.

They have been doing this forever, nothing new.
I still have some copies of letters over a 993rs cs,one was paid deposit, contract etc, porsche said only 6 rhd coming in,he threw his toys out, went legal and won.Porsche had two build the 7th!!!
Also my 4.0 ltr, porsche informed opc that a certain local journalist we all know has to have it not me,and i am a good customer.
You have good grounds to get one if you have a contract, deposit, confirmation etc,go for it.
I am waiting for the manual version with 550 bhp in 2016,rather than a automatic.smile
Are you holding your breath until 2016 then?

Op I have had a confirmation for several months . I am on a private forum with over 10 gt3 rs owners to be . None of us has a build number , the system has only been live a few days . I cannot understand how you have a build number before the system going live it's impossible .

As for letter in for 18 months , I've had mine in for years . So has every other person I know that has got one .

Not to offend the op but everyone I know that has one is a multi gt car owner , most track their cars and are known for not flipping upon release . From where I'm sitting I think Porsche have done a great job with the rs allocations this time round . Much better than the 40 debacle . Obviously there will be many disappointed people , that's unfortunate but surely going legal is absolutely ridiculous ?

Is "old boy network " another term for "good customers with proven track record of loyalty and not flipping cars for profit"?

Simply inflating the brand value. Why sell x cars at £70k when you could sell x cars at £140k for the same manufacturing cost. Porsche want to move the brand away from BMW/Audi/Merc and more towards Ferrari/Lambo/McLaren end of the market.
I'd agree with you if it wasn't for the Cayenne, Macan and Panamera.

What is your evidence that "Porsche have done a great job?"....has PAG or even PCGB actually done the allocations? Rather it seems left up to the individual OPCs...no?

If Porsche stated - and honestly it should come from loyalty to PAG product...not a franchised OPC, and somewhat akin to Ferrari with the limited edition vehicles - that obtaining the GT products was contingent on multiple prior purchases...then cool...one knows the rules of the game.

At the moment the rules are left up to the OPCs...and yet is the Porsche brand that takes damage...

Will I wander to the F car or M car stable...doubtful....do I feel unfairly treated after 5 911s...in two countries over 10 yrs (two of them GT3s)...somewhat...

I've a 991 Turbo S and 7.2 RS to ease the pain...but I will still express my frustration and suggest a better path to PAG.

I don't expect to find an RS in my stocking...

but at the very least my observations might..just might prompt some better thinking by PAG on how to constructively handle limited products...without antagonizing loyal brand supporters

Sorry Doom mate, that by itself is a very expansive criteria. I have never owned any car other than Porsche, hows that for loyal ?

I have never a flipped a car either, apart from back to OPC for a heavy loss.

Can I get a GT based on that Criteria? No.

So, back to the point made earlier in the thread, I would define an 'old boys network' in this instance as being very much what Porsche GB are risking here, they have left it up to the murky world of private car dealing, playing up to the old stereotypical back-hander image of the car dealer. It is unfair on the dealers, however its the parent companies fault in this instance, Porsche are artificially creating a GT bubble in the RHD UK market, we need more cars.

Don't know about 'old boy network' - my local dealership changes its staff, including DP as often as the seasons! Never been able to build a relationship as they keep moving on - or being moved on?!
I was told quite bluntly by the sales guy, that the RS was an easy way of making £50 grand; When I got my 997 Turbo, one of the first UK cars, I had to sign a form that I could only sell back to the dealership and not to the open market for a period of 6 or 9 months.
As far as I'm aware, that's what Ferrari do for their 'halo' cars.

I'd happily sign such a form if it still exists?

So basically one will get on the preferential GT car buying list when all the old codger buyers have failed a peripheral driving eye test..Hahaha..

Its like a bloody work place, the cream goes to those with the most seniority..

Seriously though, I have a 991 GT3 and this was my first buy with Porsche, so I did well, however, I had to work at it. Having said that, in business you do keep your best and more fruitful clients happy, which I think we all must agree on. The problem is is when an OPC takes a deposit, signs an order form and give you a vague delivery date, now, why do that if your not definitely getting a car, its like waving scrummy food under someones nose when there on a diet. It all should be handled with brute honesty so those that are unlucky knew the score at the start, to which should not be an issue when they can sell these GT variants over and over again.

When Reading blew me out on a 991GT3 I was gutted ( I was left being first on the cancellation list, apparently ) but they said If I wait I could have an RS. After seeing it I do think wow that would have been great but i could see it was a lottery getting a GT3 or RS period so I snapped up one from Cardiff by huge luck. Cardiff was a very smooth buying experience too and owe my ownership to a guy there, I never thought he would remember my hopeful call 3 month previous to him ringing me with a slot, and I thank him for that.

To all that want a RS,, good luck..

that looks great - suspect it will be rather more expensive than an RS though unfortunately
