When I asked if there was any chance of me getting a GT3 RS or GT4, the sales guy laughed at me. Fair enough.

When I enquired about the Cayman GTS, well apparently I couldn't get one of those either. WTF.

Seems to me like Porsche is becoming the Rolex of cars. They have good products and have become a halo/go-to brand for people who want a pricey/sporty car, maybe even just a status symbol... GT cars excluded, arguably.

Sorry to hear about this.

The OPC you dealt with are actually breaking Porsche rules, as they are not supposed to take a deposit off a customer for any model until it is officially announced. They are supposed to work off LOI.

So , the "old boy" network in full swing then ? Bad situation but as a good will gesture they should at least do something...... interest refunded or some other sweetener.
Is "old boy network " another term for "good customers with proven track record of loyalty and not flipping cars for profit"?
Confused of EXUP
Thats maybe but that is also no excuse for taking a deposit no matter how small if they know ( and they do ) that it mean sweet FA when the time comes.

I put a deposit down for the 991 GT3 RS when i collected my 997 GT3 RS 4.0 so quite some time ago. Whether the OPC is entitled to do that or not i don't really care because it did work.

Did you sign order form or any other agreement?

It was an order form but with no specific dates other than the then speculative header 991 GT3 RS. There is nothing binding on that form for ether party. It is a declaration of interest subject to.....

Subject to the terms of the contract entered into with the dealer entity, which will likely provide that the dealer entity only has to provide a car if (i) they get one to sell, (ii) the customer has complied with their obligations, and (iii) time will not be of the essence for any of the dealer entity's obligations, meaning delivery dates (if the contract has not been terminated) are variable as the dealer elects and the purchaser cannot terminate for late delivery, providing the dealer still intends to proceed with the contract. None of us has seen the terms of the OP's purchase contract, so any commentary is speculation, but the terms of the standard form dealer sale contract will be in the dealer's favour. All subject to UCTA of course.

Any contractual issues are between dealer entity and purchaser, PCGB and PAG are not relevant. They should not be telling dealers how or to whom the sell cars, lest they be accused of attempting to introduce retail price maintenance, or other anti competitive practices.

They are an exclusive desirable brand and they stay this way by keeping their cars limited.

Its a shame for those that don't get the car they really want but the alternative would be another car brand that sells to anyone with a heart beat!

Luxury has to be limited!

my 2 pence....

When people say they paid a deposit 20 months ago, what amount are they talking about?

The typical £1000 fully refundable type or the £10,000 order type?

If I was in charge of production at Porsche I'd have ensured every confirmed order was fulfilled , maximising profit for the manafacturer and its retail partners.

Keeping things scarce added to the inevitable increase in second hand values doesn't help the manafacturer one bit , imho.

They had £10,000 from me too. Now refunded but I refuse to cash the cheque. More fight in me yet.

To quote a much earlier poster, I too spent many hours in the OPC Cardiff, drinking coffee and also demanded a red carpet for my new cars. Unfortunately, my 25 year history of new cars, servicing and coffee drinking did not equate to my promised car.

Coincidence, I collected my GT3 from Cardiff after being unlucky at Reading.

It would appear you totally misinterpreted the gist of my post. Perhaps your 'demands' have cost you in this instance. Cardiff are a superb OPC.

I take your point, I was never born with a silver spoon. I foolishly expect a certain standard of service when spending in excess of 130k.

Maranello puts Cardiff OPC to shame.
