Does anyone know how to get the head unit out (Becker CDR22) on a 996?

I've just bought a Denison Ice-link to connect my Ipod to the head unit, but it needs plugging in to the CD changer port at the back. Any bright ideas apppreciated...

Did u consider the Neo Ion Ipod adapter? If so, why did u choose the Denison?

You need the "keys" - thin flat metal things that slip into the two slots at the front of the unit - to release it.

I fitted an iPod adaptor (same Denison one as you've got) recently and asked a local car audio place if they could pull the unit out on my behalf... they wanted £10 to do so...

Ended up calling in a favour from my local OPC who did it for nowt!

Am I right in thinking that you are hard wiring your Ipod to the back of your head unit? If so, what is the advantage over the Itrip which is wireless?

hardwired sounds better, charges ipod, head unit & steering wheel controls also operate the ipod. You can also stash the ipod in glove box!

Thank you for that. I'm just about to order an Ipod and was going to order an Itrip as well but your route sounds better. However, I won't benefit from steering wheel control but I will get improved sound as well as in car charging.Good luck!

Dunno if you're still looking to do this but I've just swapped mine. I did take a couple of pics and should be able to get a web page together on it shortly

It's easiest if you remove the heater control unit above it - even with the metal 'keys' you need to give it a shove from the back to get it out.

blimey, had forgotten about this.

Bob, still awaiting getting round to it, so if you could post the pics / destructions, would be most appreciated.

Dozer - Itrip is not good where I live, there are loads of radio stations, so you end up having to retune it every 400 yards.

OK, finally got my install finished (had a few problems with the wiring as Porsche have changed the wiring for the 04 model).

Some pics and details on my website
