A quick question. Would a 2010 car without axle lift have any issues entering and exiting Le Shuttle, in the wider and single level, over 1.85m carriages?. A random question, but nonetheless an important one to me.

NO be perfectly fine maybe ask to go in where the trucks go for a slightly wider fit so as not to scrape the wheels. That happened to a mate of mine . Not good on centre locks

Usually if you book the " tall car" it should enable you to get into the wider carriage

Totally agree, those Swift caravans are lush. That has the offset rear window too. Classic.

Never had problems on the train itself. Definitely had problems coming back from France. When you get to UK passport control they guide you into one of several open passport lanes. Try to keep far right and go with the trucks where the ground is flat. On one occasion I was forced into one of the 'car' lanes and was met with a sharp ramp (designed to bring cars level with the passport officials window). I couldn't make it with my Gen 1 997 and caused a right old hold up with various officials forcing reversing and manoeuvering into a bypass lane. Maybe only some of the gates are affected this way and they may have changed them but I doubt it. When you arrive in the melee of cars you can't see which lanes have a ramp or not, so keep far right if you can.
