Looks amazing. But doubt it will be the most popular color
From the article:
Porsche recently launched the 911 GT3 RS configurator (available here) where there are four paints to choose from: the standard white and GT Silver Metallic available without extra costs along with Lava Orange and Ultraviolet priced at $3,140. We've already seen the orange hue in Geneva as well as in Germany and now time has come to check out the violet paint which would be an interesting choice albeit somewhat splashy.

This is the colour I specced at the weekend - including the same interior. Having had two Mexico Blue RSs (3.8 and 4.0), I have decided it's time for a change. I can't wait to see the colour in the flesh. From the article:

I saw the Lava show car at Geneva in the flesh - for my taste the colour was a bit "thin" but that may just have been the effect of the bright show lights. I was looking for something deeper.
Not yet had a delivery month advised by the OPC - they are still finalising allocations and build slots.
I saw the Lava car at Geneva and it looks stunning. I was advised majority of orders are for white with orange the next most popular. I was going to play safe with white but after seeing the Lava car I'm going to put my head in the shed and go mad with orange! I was told UK production won't start until around June but all orders should be completed before holiday shutdown. The chap also mentioned the possibility of a limited edition car for 2016 so maybe same strategy as 997 RS.

Most people I know have so far gone orange. That's what I have done however I think I may change
Orange does work well with the interior "accents", the silver/black on the other colours is a bit mehPTS, with the higher residuals, will be highly popular - anyone know the choice of PTS colours ( believe it is a finite list) & the cost?

Indeed - traditionally the launch colour is always a disproportionately big seller. I reckon that Orange will be the most common, probably followed by white (white is of course the only colour in which is is theoretically possible to source a complete set of RSs thanks to the 996 and the one that Porsche were bullied into offering by customers on the 997.1). If they would have sold me one I would have wanted paint to sample, but the fall back would be the ultraviolet. Though that said - wrapping always an option...Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
