The former is surely just a function of being in the right gear at the right time, isn't it? Or do you just mean that you have to drive the GT3 aggressively to get the most out of it? How is that different to the previous generations - surely they had similar torque and needed to be revved to perform?
Similarly, in terms of gear selection was it the manual mode or auto mode you didn't like with the PDK?
To emphasis the point, I'm not challenging your opinions, just trying to understand them...!!
As an all round car, I'd find it hard to fault the Turbo S.
Fair question sidicks : Similarly, in terms of gear selection was it the manual mode or auto mode you didn't like with the PDK?

Yes Auto Mode was my issue . Driving "aggressively" the box was fine but at say fast road rather than track aggression , the box was over sensitive iMO . Overtaking for example the car would drop from 7th to 2nd or 3rd on part throttle ( at which point I'd get the customary thump off the other half for driving like a p---k) . I suspect this is simply the box working to match the torque curve .
The answer is to drive in manual, which I did most of the time but then you forget and end up in the wrong gears again . Maybe a PDK that can only be used in manual was the answer for me .
Also agree torque curve is not a new phenonium with GT's so not sure why I felt it was more exaggerated . Maybe my expectations where higher from the 475hp car than say the 380hp 996 ?
By no means did I dislike the car , just didn't do for me what I expected .
Ref turbo s : Standing start was astounding as was grunt and drive out of slow comers .

Ronin hats of to you on your Lotus and the J Leno piece was probably his most enjoyable piece of last year for me - he properly looked like he was having fun too - someone like you needs to be running Lotus as your car is off the chart.
Sidicks you are so arrogant and defensive about your own choice of steed its beyond comprehension.
Now back to choosing which colour deviated stitching I'm having on my next car.
Thanks IMIA, Jay dug the car since he is a Lotus and Porsche fan.. He did have an issue with bouncing off the rev limiter a few times due to the quick revving 1.8 ltr. turbo catching him off guard...Sidicks you are so arrogant and defensive about your own choice of steed its beyond comprehension.

I've been a Porsche fan for as long I can remember after my first ride in a 912 back in the 60's and as soon as I could afford one a 911 was in the driveway...
I think I know better than anyone how a car should perform "for me". After all it's my car and I know the canyons I want to drive.
I've bounced back and fourth between Porsche and Lotus over the years and have always said if you can only afford one car make it a Porsche but a Lotus will always out handle it in the twisties, just a fact...sorry.
The GT3 has always been the benchmark on track here in California until the day I asked a Porsche Cup racer to take the keys to my 290whp modified Lotus for a few laps around high speed Willow Springs in order to get some feed back from a guy that really knows how a car should perform on track.
So three laps later he beats his own GT3 Cup time by over a second in a street legal Lotus...
As I said the GT3 was the benchmark....
And "I" believe the 991 Turbo S beats it all around but this is just my opinion and you are all free to have yours..
As for lap times the Turbo S is faster, road going comfort and canyon driving still the Turbo S is better in my opinion...
Si-dick you are so typical it makes me smile, you really are a si-dick...

No loss. What you actually mean is that I'm happy to challenge people who make statements they can't back up with experience!
The fellow drove a 991 GT3 and thought the PDK GT3 is average. You do not have to agree with him but no harm in being polite when disagreeing with him. Just saying....you make us all look like tits....

No, he actually said:'it sucked on the road'
'crap'
'no torque'

Which of my posts were not polite? I pointed out that a few hours weren't really enough to make an informed decision and that if you drive it properly the fact that the car has (much) less torque than a Turbo S is somewhat irrelevant! It was ronin that got aggressive and rude!

Agreed, anyone looking in would think its like that lot over on PH at times on here.....But honestly so what if someone else doesn't get a car. It's just a car lol. During Cold War with some of these characters there'd be no western democracies left! Defcon 4 launch the puppies!

Now it's time to take the S out for a few more canyon miles and smiles...
I can't imagine any other car ever being better than the S as an all round daily driver....

I think that's true, as explained above, but that's not what a GT3 is for! That is my playground and test road to see if my old ass dyno can tell if I've hurt or helped the cars performance when I start tweeting things.

You're threatening me now?Has it ever occurred to you that for you coming from cooking 997.1 C4S (another great car IMO) a new GT3 may be the pinnacle of driving nirvana. In fact many drivers with horizons far wider than yours (and mine) agree with you to an extent until you put an older Porker in front of them. You see the bit you're maybe missing is that if you're used to an F16 around the track like Ronin's 211 B on rocket fuel a GT3 is going to seem rather tame and breathless. That monster is running 600-700 bhp per tonne and I doubt certain current hypercars could live with her on a twisty circuit. A GT3 is defo going to seem less than "average" to a lunatic (in a good way) like him. Different strokes for different .......
Try not to be such a card. Peace out!

So Sidicks you've got your kicks for the day by getting a reaction out of someone new to the Porsche forum - well done .

But the comments made little sense in the context of his love for the Turbo S unless he was driving the GT3 as you'd drive a Turbo S - ie. using the Torque, rather than using the gearbox to exploit the GT3's top end power. Then he mentioned its suitability as a daily driver which clearly isn't the purpose of the GT3.A GT3 is defo going to seem less than "average" to a lunatic (in a good way) like him. Different strokes for different .......
I can certainly see that a combination of a Turbo S as a daily car and an insane bespoke Lotus would mean that the GT3 wouldn't fit either role as well as one of the other two.

You conveniently forget that it was him that started the insults!Perhaps you can try not to get involved and antagonise...
