Beats it in time. But he looks to have enjoyed driving the p1 more. He was very animated getting out of it.

What's more important a few tenths or driving pleasure?

To be fair, the whole purpose of the exercise was to see which car was fastest over the lap, not which was most fun to drive.

If you were driving the 918 for fun, wouldn't you be adopting a different driving style?

The Harris video at Portimoa testing these cars is the perfect mix of fun and times as only he can do ( Journo wise ) . He loves cars for what they are not brand specific ..
Times whist they tell a story do not tell the whole story , yes the GT3 was about 5 secs a lap slower than the Ferrari Special ( which was 2 seca a lap slower than the 918 ) but he preferred the Porsche experience...not taking into account the value of the Porsche package.

Yes it was but he still had more fun in the p1 saying it was a drivers car.

He drove both cars the same in order to get the fastest lap. And was obviously blown away by the mclaren. Not sure how you would change driving style on a track for more fun.

I think knowing my driving style I'd prefer the 918 anyway. I love being able to power out of corners all just theorie because I will never drive either.

It's interesting regarding the ops it's post. The turbo might be faster in the valleys but is it more fun than the gt3

I don't get all the hype about the 991 GT3 it's just a meh and noisy road car that can be passed by a properly tuned Lotus Exige on track..
I bought into the hype and the next day I returned it for a 991 Turbo S.
At least you can say you had a proper attempt to learn how to drive it...

My point was to show that an all wheel drive car of equal power and proper design is and will always be more composed and quicker on road or track even if the rear wheel drive car is lighter....

On a tight canyon road the McLaren with it's power is lost in search of grip as it is on corner exit on track....

I would like to thank you all for reminding me (yet again, there was another recent thread conducted in the same "adult" rolleyes good humoured fashion ) of why I spend so much more time on 911uk.com than I do here these days. arguetypebanghead kinda sums this place up.

I'm always surprised how real gear heads talk about cars vs those that just buy a perceived status symbol. Lighten up it's just a freakin car....
And the GT3 is slower than a slightly modified Lotus Exige on track..biggrin
