Here is Frank (the Ronin) and his car (not the GT3 or the Turbo S) on Jay Leno's Garage. It's quite an interesting car that he built so worth a watch.

Can't believe nobody's mentioned the (white) Elephant in the room...

Must play serious havoc with the skateboards aero through the canyons!

I would like to thank you all for reminding me (yet again, there was another recent thread conducted in the same "adult" rolleyes good humoured fashion ) of why I spend so much more time on 911uk.com than I do here these days. arguetypebanghead kinda sums this place up.
Don't let the door hit you on your way out...... biggrin
You still pulling people's tails on here lol?!
I'm always surprised how real gear heads talk about cars vs those that just buy a perceived status symbol. Lighten up it's just a freakin car....
And the GT3 is slower than a slightly modified Lotus Exige on track..biggrin

My hands looked like that after rebuilding my Mini engine at the age of 17, called 'Spanner Rash' back then or was it how they looked after meeting someone I found offensive?

Anyway, Ronin can you tell me what % of your interesting looking car is actually Lotus apart from the headlights?

Stay in your own censored lane punk..

What 'reports of offensive posts by trolls' ??

Isn't it your posts that have been viewed as offensive and troll-like?
From the reports that have come in Mr Ronin is on the top of the trolls list, BUT I didn't act on those, I've only censored a swear word that was present in his post, and what do we get? toys out of pram, Oh dear.

Grown ups? don't make me laugh.

Hmm, is this not a simple case of British sensibility having its nose tweaked, by the more direct and often bravura delivery of our cousins from across the pond? I find it all rather amusing, but then my expensive car isn't being dismissed as an irrelevant road vee-hickle?

I don't think anyone has a problem with his (or any other) opinions on the GT3.

What has been observed is that:
- he only had the car for one day so has minimal credible experience on which to base his opinions
- he appears to misunderstand the nature of the GT3 and hence how to drive it to get the best out of it (you don't buy a GT3 to leave it in 3rd gear at 2,500rpm)
- he appears to misunderstand that few people are using a 991 GT3 as a 'daily driver' (a role for which few people would disagree that the Turbo is the more natural / better choice)

More recently, he has become obsessed with repeatedly explaining that the GT3 is 'crap' and anyone who owns a GT3 is only keeping it because they are too embarrassed / stubborn to trade it in.
And making offensive remarks to those who point out the flaws in his claims!

The guy clearly understands cars, and knows what he wants. Of course you can make your mind up on a car in one day, why not? I'd say a decent test drive would be enough to determine if I like something or not.

Oh, and stop feeding the troll!

I currently drive a Lotus Exige S V6 which is tuned to 430bhp for my track day fun. Love the car, will probably keep it, but I hanker after a 991 GT3 RS. The Exige is superb on the track, but it is bloody awful on the drive there and back. I crave a couple of creature comforts, power steering, decent interior build quality, not needed earmuffs over 60mph!! The RS will do everything my Exige will, but in style and with a little more comfort, at least thats what i figure anyway.

Does this make me a bad person?

Yes, a LHD car. The Oct date was pre-'bucket' delay so I expect to get pushed back further once the exact build slot date is confirmed in May. It looks like i wont get the car until Dec/Jan now.

I still have deposits for a UK RHD GT4 in with two other OPC's, waiting to hear still .............! I guess the longer it runs without hearing good news the more likely it will be bad.
My wife asked me yesterday what I would do if I got a GT4 slot as well, I looked at her in horror.............. 'Keep them both of course' i said, and we didnt speak for at least an hour!! Good God women, what a stupid question.

I would not be bothered if I got a Spyder slot instead of the GT4, looks like a good machine to me and will worry a few 'exotics' on track. Lets wait and see, I would suspect all of us should hear within the next couple of weeks if not already.

Er, the clue is perhaps there in his handle, "LeftHooker" rolleyes

To go back to the Tit who started all this rumpus, would it not be common sense to have a decent test-drive (up them ol Canyons there) before slapping the cash on the counter ? or is that too wimpish for a "good ol boy" laugh

Ok I'll bite. biggrin

You can judge a car in one day and a few hundred miles - hacks do it in a few hours if not minutes. I use this to choose cars and chose the porsche over V12V ( much to the annoyance of AM fans) - back to back over two days was enough to rule out the V12V for me.

On the public road, cars that can do 70+ in second and require high revs are off the power band at 55. I had the same problem with my ultima LS7 eventually supercharging it to make the power band wider. I can understand why ronin much prefers a lotus based car with lots of horses, not much weight and wide powerband for canyon runs at around 55 biggrin

The GT3 is definitely not 'crap' nor 'sucks' if I believe the hacks, but when compared to his current machinery I can see his POV - especially on track.

On the other side of the coin, I personally have had GT3 owners dissing me for choosing a turbo - citing that feedback, feeling and grip 'suck' and the only answer is a GT3, which for me was too heavy on the clutch and too hard on the suspension (997 version) for road use.

So all's fair in love and war - it's a personal choice.

I agree that you can decide whether a car will suit you in a few hundred miles. However, I don't think you can credibly claim to be able to properly judge the merits of a car with such a short experience.

how narrow do you think the power band is in the GT3?

Me too, but he was talking about the Turbo S, not his other car.
And he was talking about 'cruising'
And he complained that the GT3 was noisy
And had no torque
And was 'crap'

Which suggests he doesn't really understand what the GT3 is all about. Which is fine - few people would argue that the Turbo S is a better daily driver etc.

His 'Lotus' is very special. However, as above he was comparing the GT3 to the Turbo S.

Indeed, so why he felt the need to make numerous follow-up posts telling us that we had made the wrong choices and that we were deceiving ourselves by not changing our GT3's for Turbos, only he knows!

Sidicks, I've not met you, and in person you are possibly completely different to your online persona, but you really do come across as the biggest 991 GT3 fking nosebleed fanboy in the universe.

It's a fking great car I'm sure, most 911's are, but unless I'm wrong Porsche didn't appoint you as the 991 GT3 ambassador did they?

Just relax a bit, post about something other than how good the 991 is and maybe grow a big silver moustache like Ronin smile

I honestly can't believe this thread is still going. Ronin for his own amusement has strolled into the PH forum and merrily thrown a hand grenade in our room and then left to watch us squabble like girls lol - and we have taken the bait hook, line, and sinker - that's the amusing bit hehe

Agree with that apart from the 'amusing' bit irked
