Come on now the GT3RS will not have any more torque that the current GT3 and just an additional 25 hp at peak rpm. Without extra torque for corner exit it's just another meh GT3.... There are no tuning options to increase engine performance, this makes it just another porker with new lipstick..

If ya don't like what I have to say don't read it.....
No it doesn't, with the aero work, the huge wieght difference, the huge rubber contact patches, the RS will lap Spa (one of my favourite and regular use tracks) quicker than the turbo, and be able to do it lap after lap long after the turbo has melted everything. I am very happy to try and prove this should you wish to have a dabble with me.

I speak as a turbo fan. Indeed I believe having done more than 20 track days in a turbo, using cup tyres, Alcons etc, I can speak with actually knowledge and experience rather than emotion.

punch

Slightly less weight, more down force so it will be faster in the corners, but even with the extra horses probably less peak speed because of the drag. You could bore it out 4l smile

I think the gt3 is great investment and gt3 RS even more so because of supply and demand. At 170k for the gt3, the 120k 991 turbo s looks good value for a daily and occasional track duties. Even more so when you you can pickup a 996 turbo cheap and tune it up to 1500bhp through places like nine excellence.

The gt3 is a quick car on track but it won't be quickest because of it's weight and power to weight ratio. At 1.4t it will use wheel bearings, brakes and tyres at a high rate - even ceramics.

I'm in the camp of occasional use on track - the turbo s fits that bill for me. All other times I have track car that has occasional use on the road - that fits this bill as well.

(Horses for courses lets rinse and repeat wink)

Isn't the 991 GT3 about 10-15% down on power compared to the Turbo S but also about 10-15% lighter?

I would therefore guess that the biggest benefit of the Turbo S over the GT3 is in relation to traction out of corners with 4WD?

Having driven the Turbo S at Silverstone PEC, it does things that a car of that size / weight has no right to do!!

Torque kicks in earlier and longer though.

Yep GTRS and turbos defy logic on the track given their weight. Not sure about the 991 gt3, but the old 997.2 gt3 RS is significantly slower than the Nissan GT-R brigade of cars on the Ring, so when the stats start coming out on fastest lap etc etc I would at expect the turbo and gt3 to be similar. RS downforce may play heavily on the ring and make some difference. The gt2 RS will be a site to behold (and another good investment)

Still whatever you fancy. Unfortunately I'm all forced induction now but look forward to following the first few 991 gt3 RS on track to see how it compares.

As long as you are in the right gear, surely power is more important than torque!

Being quick round a track is down to a lot more than torque out of corners.. No doubt 991TS is an awesome car, but it will struggle not falling apart if used as a dedicated track car. And how fun is it really driving something that more or less drives itself, same reason why dedicated track drivers don't use GTR's.

why do you think the 918 kills the other hyper cars on track with the lowest BHP.

Now in the case of the 991 Turbo S it is all of the above..... To those that buy any car because of potential resale value, you are all posers laugh

I had my car for 3 weeks before a buddy pointed out to me that the key was shaped like a Porsche and that they can be painted to match the car... What poser bling this is...Good thing they don't have a ridged GT3 wing on them or you would never be able to get it out of your pocket..

Tossers putting their keys on the bar while ordering a drink as if someone cares what car you drive....Just like Lotus posers..

Don't understand why Ronin is so adamant on slating GT3's and struggle accepting not everyone agree with his views.

A 991TS is a lovely car and so is the GT3, not all settings are the same, some will suit one more than the other. Personally I couldn't imagine it much fun having to drive a TS on track but whatever, for some it might be perfect.

I assume you mean 'lovely'?!

Apparently he's renowned for trolling the forums and sharing his 'robust' opinions. I think Pistonheads is his current favourite haunt for this purpose!

Dude you are the troll here.
I don't troll forums I posted my Lotus build so that other Lotus owners that are not posers might want to take advantage of my R$D and save time and money doing modifications that work in the real world without getting ripped off.

I expressed my opinion on the GT3 vs my Turbo S in the real world but in no way am I trolling with painted keys and toy rotors hanging on them, that's for certain GT3 trolls to do...

Troll away sidicks in your poser mobile.... I wonder what seats, R spec tires and harness setup you have in your wanna be racer ?

The truth is I'm embarrassed to tell my buddies I own a Porsche since 99.99% of Porsche owners are just a bunch of fuccin slack jaw posers....
What a bunch of punts...... 4Q
