If anyone fancies a run up I'll speak to Trevor who organises the events and see how many cars are booked in.
I'd be up for that on the 14th
Anyone else?just messaged trevor and hes got spaces on the 14th. He's also looking at doing some supercar days. If anyone wants a chat with him i can put you in touch?

To add its a proper bargain at 150quid with timing gear on and as many runs as you want :-)

Is it this one? - http://www.straightliners-events.co.uk/event/event...

I was thinking about going to a V-max event but Elvington is much closer for me. How does the day work? Do they provide timing gear / printouts? Anybody have any photos / video of a previous event? The website doesn't seem that great.

Yes thats the one and yes the website is rubbish lol but dont be put off. Similar set up to v max tbh fairly laid back and run when you want. Elvington is a better venue in terms of the surfave but its a massive open venue so take layers on a windy day :-)

You will get a timing slip from each run. He's just said they are doing their own specific supercar only days this summer so watch out for those dates too.

Might have a run out on my bike if anyone is deffo going on the next one there?

Some awesome numbers. When I get my Challenger Hellcat in a few weeks time I would like to run it at one of these events. Whilst it will not be the quickest by far I would like to be able to stretch it legs legally. Dodge quotes 199mph but in testing they have gone 208mph. Not bad for a two tonne muscle car.
How do I find out about forthcoming events ?

These guys run VMAX. http://www.autovivendi.com Sounds like the Yorkshire venue is better. I've seen the Hellcat 208 mph run - awesome - saw a few of them in Dubai recently!

Elvington world wheelie records 2013: https://youtu.be/1pLRglF9tao

Worth watching as halfway through it shows you some aerial shots of the airfield. Givesa great idea of how flat and long the main runway is. Still used for aircraft so kept in reasonable shape on the main runway which is used for the official top speed stuff

Hi Chris, are you still running TOTB up at Elvington? Been many years since we last met now, about TOTBIII from memory smile

If anyone is looking for a long runway but lives at the other end of the country, I use to run an event called Top Speed Challenge many moons ago and from memory used 1.7miles of Woodbridge runway for the timed Vmax runs. Might be worth checking if anyone is running any similar types events in that neck of the woods.

Hi Richie. Thankfully no, i retired from all the stress :-) had some good times though and saw some of the fastest cars in the uk. Trevor from Straightliners took over a few yrs ago and the event is still going strong and still well supported although not as big as in the early yrs. Its in July at Elvington. They are planning some days for supercars by the sound of it up there which should be interesting!

Thx for posting graphs... this is obvioudly a 3rd to 4th dedicated 60-130 run... but looks like you may not have been full throttle in 3rd until just before 60mph.... I cant be sure but the trace looks like it

Ideally you need to be starting 35-40mph so you are full boost by time you go thru 60... if you do this you should do much better than this 7.7s run, which 650hp should be able to provide

Hi Zero we were on Cup 2s on a wet day and trying to manage wheel spin for much of the day. I think she'll do 6.5 secs to 6.7 secs on a nice cool day. From the 202 trap speed and with the cars that were there (and knowing what sort of power they have) personally I think we're maybe even running nearer 700 bhp. Not all the 700+ bhp cars could have had a bad day. Full results below and the Agrera and a tuned Noble Carbon edition with 700bhp should have trounced us with 1000bhp and 700bhp through the traps. There was a 700bhp GT2 FS owner there and having run against us he also feels we may well have closer to 700 bhp too. Not bad for a car with GT2 hybrids and a few bits and pieces without an engine build!

This gives you an idea of power to weight of Agrera and Noble http://fastestlaps.com/cars/koenigsegg_agera_s.htm...

Here's link to full results on the day and they also make interesting reading

I don't believe it was personally. The black 918 saw 215 mph on speedo! The white 918 wasn't being driven brilliantly.

997 9e XX should have defeated the big bug lol. Owner was struggling for traction in every gear lol and new to the power kit which is circa 1350hp yikes

If you have a look at the leaderboard on VMAX site a similar 996 9e XX holds the all time record at 229mph! That cars been 250mph this year and 9e feel its good for 260-275 mph which is just ridiculous. Bug was king on the day though!
