quite a few Brunters veterans say that you need 720 bhp to break 200 mph at Brunters.

:
It's a good few yrs back now, but I'm sure young Adam T cracked the 200 in the 996 ruf r (think ruf quoted 550bhp, but ruf horses were strong, so prob nearer 600) with me on board, I remember seeing over 200 on the speedo anyway, can't remember tho if it was 200 through the traps.

Speedo is a fair bit off real speed when in that range, you probably got to 192/193 which is good with only 600hp... No meaningful wind, you'll need close around 700hp to break 200 GPS. There has been chaps up trying to hold onto their unrealistic Vmax when huge tail wind. Same chaps don't wanna recognize reality when huge head winds LOL. As an example, years back we had 25 mph head wind and in my 9e25 I just managed a 200 run, then week after I am up testing and with no wind easily did 205.

The wind makes a massive difference, at Hypermax we had a nice steady 20mph tail wind and my 993 was hitting the rev limiter at 201mph GPS 100 metres short of the beams and that is with 580 hp and a draggy GT2 body kit !

It was a south westerly yesterday, that's a tail wind at Brunters across the track is a north westerly. You can't feel a tail wind when you're driving it just gives you a nice boost. There's always a bit of a swirl when you come out of the trees midway down.....

Did that Bug do the 220mph run at 10:54 am by any chance wink

Wonder if it was a Bug SS or souped up Bug... The standard ones I have played with struggle to hang on... When in off mode smile

It was interesting there were mega cars everywhere yesterday but I didn't feel short changed in the 997 turbo at all. Perfect Q car.

There were Huracans launching sub 3 secs to 60mph and sub 6 secs to 100mph with full launch control but i bet we were having far more fun trying to coax the best top speed run out of my old girl. I think Henrik would have had 203 mph as we were braking in line with the brake board being novices. A braver driver would have been braking deep towards the final run off area. I do hope they get some vids up. I caught a 918 out twice lol (whisper it was being driven by pretty and no doubt v.wealthy gal)! I'm allowed 4 wives by the way!
The Hs, were very quick my friend in grey one, got the jump on me at the end, when I had almost no boost, zero batts, but only to about 90, at 180, he was a very very long way behind.....I could not see him...

I couldn't live with them with their LC and my ham fisted manual gear changes lol. A GT2 FS even managed to get the drop on me out of the blocks, Once up to about 80 mph the gap stayed the same with the H's though so on a rolling start I could maybe just about live with them perhaps losing out by a few mph. What top speed did you manage? I watched the grey H against you. You had the measure of the H all the way even with zero battery. The launch on your 918 with all systems on is the quickest car I've ever seen. I doubt there's a quicker car in the world 0-186 mph apart from Ken's Beetle with mustard up its chuff lol!

The book says it will max out at 214, I saw 213, you should have said you were on here I would have taken you out....to be fair I ran HL mode, not the best for drag but wanted to see the % on the batts. also did not drop the tires down....

Took Ken out, he says never been in a faster accelerating car to just over 100.....agree with the correct tire pressure for over 165, and the wing in the best angle for top speed, nothing faster to 300kph

There was no noticeable tail wind im aware of certainly up to half way up the track. At about 150mph where the trees ended you got a definite cross wind effect as the car started to go light and skittery.

If I would have been there Sat, my 9eXX would without braking sweat have done GPS 240+ and not needed the run off area, at 240+ I can brake and make the right hander. That is assuming no tail wind, doesn't really matter anymore, just turn up the power smile

David you would have murdered me up to 100 but would be caught shortly after and at the beams I would be well out of sight smile Heard from Ken your 918 is from another world, very very exciting and well build car. Cant wait to see it mate, glad to see you use it properly.

Porsche have made something very special with the 918,

To just over a 100 don't think there is a faster car, along with to 186 no faster production car.

The Paint Protection paid for it self yesterday, if felt like being behind a grit truck, not a pin mark on the whole car..

Lets catch up next week.

Agree mate, have seen a few now, the 918 on Spa in piss pouring last Sat was just in a league of its own. After seeing the LaF driven in same style as 918 on Spa, I have growing love for them as well. Poor P1 owners must feel the Ron laughter now, it does truly look like a kit car compared to the other 2.

Yup lets catch up Tue or Wed.

You know a few of Max' buddies also have P1's and more or less given up driving them, bits really do fall off them all the time, electronics, batts and drivetrain apparently are all milk chocolate, sad really.

Back to topic... David you should let Ken fiddle your 991TS, heard they are working on serious stuff for them. Imagine if you can retain the stupid hard pull from off the line, would be hilarious.

One thing i did learn is if i wasnt so set on buying a mint 993 then a 911 turbo for the same sort of money is a bargain and one like Imran's with say 600bhp or more is more than enough car for road and trackday use for most people. I dont do many drag or top speed events now but for his car to reliably hit 200mph all day and also drive like any normal car home is bloody good and matched many of the "supercars" there yesterday. Overall a bit of an eye opener how good 911 turbos are

heres your run against the H - to be fair the H was jumping the gun all day but amazing to launch 3.1 secs to 60mph and 6.5 secs to 100 mph in those conditions lol
