I spotted this beast parked outside Audleys Wood Hotel last night. I was slightly worse for wear at about 2am but it looked awesome. One of the guys I work with had his 458 Speciale there as well.
Snap! I was there last night, they were parking up as I arrived at 9.50pm, lovely car and a nice chap to boot.

We've been here for a week (Goodwood etc) and are heading home tomorrow. A PHer suggested Audleys for its discreet location for Goodwood and it's been ideal. I've needed a couple of service items done so proximity to Reading has been a bonus. Less than 2 weeks of total driving time since delivery and better than 2,000miles already. It's a very useable car.

Glad you liked the hotel(I recommended it), I stayed the first night of my honeymoon there (despite living ten mins away) and it seemed a suitable place for such a car - and you managed to park next to the front door as well..
Despite being close to the motorway and Basingstoke, it seems to be in the middle of nowhere and obviously close to reading as well. Hope you enjoyed Goodwood as well

Awesome car OP, how are you getting on with it?

Hate to be pedantic but your profile states you own a Mercedes 650S Spider, I think that's a typo wink

It's now more than 2 years since I took delivery so I thought I'd update this thread. The car is now showing 16,000 miles - Reading tell me it's the highest mileage car they look after. It's been very reliable - only a few minor campaign items and nothing reported by me. I've mainly used the car for touring on the continent plus some alpine driving as well as trips to North Wales and Scotland. It's an excellent tourer partly due to a decent boot with a fitted Rimowa XL case and garment bags behind the seats. It's pretty firm and noisy (in a good way) compared to say a Turbo but it brings sense of occasion to every drive. Truthfully, I'm not sure what I could replace it with that would do the job as well.

Safe in the knowledge you are probably only one of a few who actually make use and experience these cars, rather than locking them in a shed. clap

OPC Reading are the last people I would let loose on any car but unfortunately they are the only ones that can service the 918. I would suggest you check the car very carefully for damage before/after they look at it.

Reading looked after my 918 for 7000 miles/2 years, also also have worked on my R and 924CGT (along with Porsche Edinburgh).

In my experience they have been very good, and more than helpful. (Same can be said for Edinburgh).

mhh - there is not a comparable road car!

So glad that you have driven the car the way that it was built for. Thanks again for holding the tickets for Goodwood for me and my friend.

Now that the PCA have announced the dates for Rennsport Reunion. Will you be attending. My friends in LA have booked loads of rooms and villas in Carmel and Monterey.

It's going to be an amazing event. Can't wait.

Thread revival time. smile

I haven't seen my 918 for 2 years due to Covid travel bans in Australia. At last our leaders have announced we can go abroad again. I've been reduced to keeping an eye on the car via the Porsche Connect app while the excellent folk at my storage move it on its tyres occasionally. I'd like to sneak in a visit before Christmas (doubtful) and a road trip to Cap Ferrat in March if all goes well.
