LOL.
This is why people either love or hate John. Straight to the point. If you don't like his way of operating, buy somewhere else, nobody is forced to sign that cheque.

I've had 3 cars off him. And if my current Turbo wasn't such a peach I'd probably be up to 5 or 6 by now.

This is the way of the world. All boils down to the % of disposable income - to the OP a £400k premium could (for all we know) be a week's income or whatever. So relatively speaking, it's no big deal.

You can't take it with you, so makes sense to spend it while you still have time.

Is it overpriced? Clearly not - as it sold.

Are there cheaper out there? Yes, but not at a dealer in the UK. If you want to go traipsing around Europe and do private deals there are cars to be had.

In a world of bullstters, especially the car trade, John is probably the most straightforward chap I have pleasure of dealing with, just a shame the rest aren't the same thumbup

And he has the best toys, you just need money to own them, oddly that's how the world works.

Emailed you but now we are delayed a week as this will be the first full wrap Paintshield have done on a 918 and they are pretty busy anyway.
Out back of Malton to Helmsley, then on Stokesley, round the 171 and turn right by the lake to come across Blakey Ridge, get to the end and turn round to go back to the Lion for lunch. (Top Gear Play here, that BM i8 was filmed up there, amongst others).

Either way the hunting is easy biggrin

In the interest of accuracy, I should declare that I didn't pay anything like a £400K premium to retail. A decent premium sure, but still less than they are asking for used examples in the US. I learned over the past couple of months that some of the European "dealers" claiming to own cars couldn't even source a photo when requested. A special mention for Car De Lux in Luxembourg and Golden Tower in Berlin who simply stopped replying to emails rather than answer a few simple questions.

If there's time and early enough in the day, I would go Malton to Whitby A169, double back to Pickering. Then A170 to the Hutton-le-Hole turn off for Blakey. Do all the Blakey road (they are resurfacing just North of Hutton ATM though) , double back, stop at the Lion pub (very average but handy). Back on to A170 to Helmsley then do Helmsley/Stokesley TT and again double back to Helmsley for an ice cream (handy for me 'cause I lives in Helmsley and I can have a quick perv).

If it just one road with something like a 918 I would pick A169. Blakey road has a horrendous road surface in places. You come round some of the S-bends to find top surface missing on the apex. But A169 must be done very early before plod position themselves somewhere on there.

Thanks for the route suggestions everyone. I can't wait. driving

John has kindly offered to keep the car overnight at the dealership for its safety, but jetlag will have me awake very early so waiting for daybreak won't be easy. redface

Asking for a friend here.....

How do the police in Yorkshire operate? Do they have in-car radar to detect oncoming speeding cars like they do in Australia? Or do they stop on the roadside and use a laser gun? A Road Angel will pick up fixed cameras, but what do mobile roadside cameras hide in?

I suspect we will be very restrained on the first few days in the car. I've done lots of miles on the Continent and USA in LHD cars but none in the UK in a left hooker.

Yorkshire has no fixed cameras, but there are a couple of Nazi vans on popula fast roads, John and Mark can advise likely spots. There are also some tts with hand helds but they seem to frequent busy roads ( at quiet times and ignore the 50mph everywhere brigade and sit at likely overtake spots).

Generally not worth worrying about, but watch known spots on the A64, is really just a higher rate of road tax.

Make that North Yorkshire has no fixed.

Just to be clear the other yorkshires do.

I was playing today with an MP4-12c that I bought from John ....

For any Petrolhead, in terms of adding value to what might otherwise be a very plain life, you can't go wrong.

Lucky ?

Yes -- but -- phew, have I worked for it.

So many scammers out there, we have a client for a car and people are unbelievable in what they will say to take your cash, do you want to sell?

Enjoy the car, amazing.

You need to be very carful out there !! The chap who bought my silver with red bought 4 cars and was let down with 3 !!! One very very well known German dealer took his money and then sold it to someone else for more , he got his money back but lost £15,000 on the exchange ! Half of them don't exsist .
