Hi,

Does anyone know where I could find the wording for an OPC Extended Warranty?

I picked up a 997 GTS last November and it's developed a few knocks on the suspension. The OPC is saying that LCA and thrust arm bushes aren't covered by the extended warranty policy. I just wanted to see the exact wording myself.

Cheers

They aren't included I have the wording at home but it's in hard copy. I had top mounts and one shock absorber go at 58,000 miles 5-6 years old and argued they should have lasted longer. They covered under goodwill. Honestly they're a pain to deal with nowadays and it really depends on how your relationship is with OPC more and more nowadays.

So shocks and topmounts aren't covered either?

Echo what IMI A says .A mate of mine has a 997.2 Turbo - his top mounts went and they did them under warranty plus his rads were leaking (usual on 997 Turbo) and they covered those as well saying a faulty pipe caused it...just hang in there and try mate they should at worse offer you some goodwill.

Based on my experience the wording can be summarised as:

That'll be a wear and tear item Sir, and not covered by your warranty. Thank you and have a nice day.

I now run mine without a warranty, and put the premium saved in the kitty for a rainy day, if something lets go.

I think its a bit of a lottery , I took my car to one dealer with an issue and was told my issue ( not the same as above ) was not covered , took it to another and got it all done !

A similar thing happened to a friend a few years ago with a 986 Boxster S Tip - the transmission was a bit noisy (only done 6,000 miles). Nearest OPC wanted him to underwrite 12 hours diagnosis labour before they could tell him what was wrong and whether it was covered. He took it to the next nearest (Chester) and they were nice as pie and he ended up getting a new engine and gearbox under the warranty (a big order that the original OPC (somewhere in South Manchester area wink ) could have had if they'd had a better attitude in the first place)
