Hi,

Today while driving my 2010 Panamera Turbo at around 65mph, my PCM suddenly flashed up a load of errors, and the car went into a 'limp' mode where it felt very lumpy. I pulled over straight away and turned it off, left it a minute then when I turned it back on it was fine. I drove home (15 miles) and the car was ok and it hasn't happened again.

Has anyone seen this before? Could it be battery related? I took a video when I had pulled off the road before I turned the car off. Here -

http://youtu.be/X9Df7FLmoaM

Any advice would be appreciated.

Just switch it off and then on again. If when the car starts the glitch disappears wouldn't worry about it.

From your video PSM seems something to do with the traction control? a saftey feature? If so I would 100% ignore the last post and have it looked into ASAP! The last think you want is it failing when you need it under poor conditions or when your pressing on!

Sorry I couldn't be more help - I can't say I have ever seen a thread on here regarding a similar issue.

I would initially suspect a CAN BUS issue - various systems share information across a high speed comms network; any fault within the system can disable some or all of the functionality of an ECU.

Get the vehicle recovered; supply the video to the OPC service department with a full brief on how, when and where the fault occurred.

I have it booked in with a local porsche specialist tomorrow anyway for a suspension bush, so will get them to have a good look. I definitely want to get it sorted out as I am doing Vmax 200 on Satuday and don't fancy it going into limp mode at 180mph!

This is the problem with increasing electronics in cars. I am sure the computer just crashed and that's why when you turned it off and on again it was all fine.

my money is on the coil packs

My 4S did something virtually identical a couple of years ago - couple of coil packs failed, so all were replaced under warranty by the OPC

Same warning messages, and feeling lumpy.
I chose not to drive any further as I was a long way from home / OPC - recovered by Porsche assist

PS - see you on saturday - say hi !

Hopefully it will be something somple like battery or coil packs. Either way I'll get to the bottom of it.

Red997 - will do! I presume you'll be in a red 997?! My Panamera is black, or if I can't get it sorted by then I'll be in a grey XKR. See you there

Hopefully something easy and not too expensive. Good luck.

Nowadays the mechanicals are so much more robust than 30 years back that 100 000 miles is nothing. I hope, considering how more and more computerised and electrically controlled that electronics keep getting better in a similar way. In the past the electric sunshineroof not opening was not a show stopper.....

Great! Will be nice having 2 there. After a bit of Pistonheads stalking it seems yours is running a bit more bhp than mine! Mine is only the 2010. Is yours the facelift? How did you get on when you went before?

no, its just pre facelift;
it's been remapped & has an IPD plenum - that's all.

Last time saw north of 195mph on the runway

You'll have a great time - if last time was anything to go by !

Great! Looking forward to it

In other news the car has done it again this morning on the way to taking it to the specialist. It didn't go away when I staryed / stopped it this time so I've left it for a while and about to go and try to rescue it from the side of the road.

Your car looks a bit special, look forward to seeing it there.

My issue has been resolved! It was a faulty coil pack. Phew! £40 and a bit of labour / diagnostics.

Yes, you get to see how much quicker your car is than a standard Panamera turbo wink will be interesting to run them together to see how much difference the modifications have made

For a Mother of a car it never ceases to a amaze me how quick your panny turbos are! Drove a turbo S and was blown away by it. Can't understand why they do not sell it with a bench for three at the back. Amazing car

Well, had a great day at Hypermax. Was good to meet red997 and I was looking out for you IMIA to blag a passenger ride, but never managed to ay hello. I got out into the other 9E with Ozan and we hit 201 GPS which was great.

I'll start a new thread with a couple of videos from the day including the Panamera head to head
