£30k?! Double it.
That's what I was thinking.People are getting a bit carried away with the 2.7RS connection here.
An IB 2.7 Carrera aint no RS and never will be.
Missed out on a gold coloured 2.7 Carrera IB in 2004/5. It was up for just shy of 13k from a dealer. Dealer pulled the sale by the time I'd came to the conclusion I could live with the colour.
Doh

Hold on ........
You can't have it both ways, so which is it ? Next best thing to an original 2.7 RS or not ? Someone clearly thinks it might be. And when the original 2.7 RS is at £1m, this might look like a very shrewd move indeed. Put THAT in yee pipe and smoke it
I have one of these, so I guess have an axe to grind.. but, the car is virtually the same as an RS. Don't know why people say not. Same weight as a Touring and only minor differences in the shell. Remember there were only 500 proper lightweights and most of those lost their panels years ago.

Must confess I get confused over the difference. Please could you elaborate? Are the CIS the US cars and the MFI the Euro spec cars?
The CIS (Continuous Injection System) that's Bosch K Jetronic to you and me, was fitted to the US cars in '73, it dulled the throttle response and sapped horsepower. The MFi cars has far better throttle response and higher horsepower figures.
More can be found on the CIS system here :

Morning J. As ever on PH there's a lot of piffle proffered as gospel. The '74 Impact bumper carrera 2.7 in its MFi iteration is a rare and thus sought after car, and as you've said it's "flown under the radar". As ever with "special" Porsche 911's, it's a numbers game :http://carreramfi.com/
Just as 15 years ago with the 964 RS, many saw them as little more than a hard-riding, stripped out 964 C2. The same applies to the '74 2.7 Carrera, it's not "just another impact bumper car". That it's mechanically identical to the hallowed early 2.7 RS only adds to it's cachet to those in the know. It really is a "cheap" 2.7 RS, and no doubt prices will continue to escalate despite the comments by the naysayers and doomongers on here. As ever, those that know, know. And those that don't, well they're often to be found posting as self professed experts on here
And for further indicators on pricing ........ :

So whilst the buyer of the Silverstone Auctions car might not have got a "bargain", someone knew exactly what they were buying and won't lose their shirt even if they do a full resto job on the car.
