Best driving roads and place to stay in Wales this weekend
Discussion
Hi All
Have Monday off and decided am keen to blast out of London in the c2 with the other half and experience some amazing scenery and driving roads Wales.
Please can you recommend roads / routes and also accommodation for Sat and Sunday night. Am presuming the best routes are to be had around Snowdonia but I literally have no idea so am trusting in the Pistonheads massive.
Short notice I know (just decided on impulse tonight) but looking to be on the road by lunch time tomorrow so come forth with your wisdom!

The worst place in the world for speed cameras!! Go north to Yorkshire or Derbyshire. Got stuck behind a non cooperative truck on the A483 for miles and miles last year, very nearly sold the car afterwards due sheer frustration and realisation that there is very little in the way of roads that one can drive nowadays. A friend got done by a mobile in Angelsey recently for being a fraction over the limit on a rural and deserted road, since their infamous chief constable, who's name escapes me (Brunstrom?), they seem to use motoring fines as their chief source of income. I live almost on the border but will no longer venture into the place, especially with the rampant anti Englishness so apparent.

Totally agree, no roads at all in Wales, speed camera on every straight, everyone hates the English and sheep everywhere. Rains all the time too.....awful place http://youtu.be/F0sZUXKRxsE
Well, yes Robbo, there are roads in Wales but rarely as empty as in this video, the cameras are usually hidden round corners, Of course they hate the English the whole world does!! The sheep are very aggressive, they love wiping bumpers of Porsches and it does indeed rain all the time!! Go north.....

OP, if you want to impress the bride with somewhere posh, you could try this. I was there last weekend.

Yeah, wot he said It does take a bit more research and experience to get the best out of a trip like this but a good shortcut is to stay here: http://www.metropole.co.uk and follow the route recommendations of Justin, the hotel owner/manager. As a petrolhead himself and a local he knows what he's doing

You are miles off the mark here mate, you clearly need some guidance about the place. The other responses above are gently taking the mickey. Its a truly brilliant place to have a driving holiday and much closer to London, where the OP comes from.

FYI Snowdonia showing as roughly the same distance from me as North Yorkshire Moors

I thought I was in good humour, but seriously I don't enjoy driving in Wales. If you go OP the cameras aren't always obvious, beware parked horse boxes and other vehicles / devices that could conceal a camera. The other responses above are gently taking the mickey. Its a truly brilliant place to have a driving holiday and much closer to London, where the OP comes from.

Fun in Wales is an oxymoron.
Quite frankly that's nonsense. I was up there at 7am this morning, had three hours of pretty much perfect hooniganism. Not sure where you're driving to find all the cameras you allege exist ?Sensible choice of roads and the time you use them will go a long way towards ensuring you don't have issues on this front.
