Blaupunkt Toronto SQR 48 headunit locked

Whilst sorting the garage I came across an old dusty head unit. Bit of googling seems to link similar models to Porsche and BMW's so I am hoping someone in this section can help.

Powered it up, tried to put in a code the internet provided but now it is stuck at four green dashes. Any idea how to reset it? Google says to either leave it unplugged for 5 minutes, or plugged in for an hour to reset but neither worked.

Is this thing now knackered or is there some hope?

In olden times, didn't they suggest popping it in the fridge or freezer (can't remember which or why) for a while?
