Wax on.... wax off..............
Discussion
Advice appreciated - which is the best wax to buy so I can polish my new baby - Vesuvius metallic...?
I am wanting a really nice shine, and best protection to keep my showroom paintwork
Is it Zymol, or should I just buy Porsche stuff?

The shine depends on the amount of preparation before you put the wax on. If the paint surface is not cleaned and polished well, no matter how much you spend on the wax, the shine will never be as good as it should be.
Zymol is a fantastic wax, and the alternative is Swissol, similar stuff, but may be a bit easier to use. The result is simply amazing. The cost might seam a bit steep but they do last for ages and ages, so it works out no more expensive per application to any other decent wax.
Have a look at some detailing forums such as autopia and autoshineforum.invisionzone.com , plenty of interesting info there, some of it a bit anal but no harm reading it.

How can you look at the great ass of the 993 without smuthering it with the best wax using you bare hand massaging it in
Everytime I do it my neighbours close their curtains and call their kids in
Scary freak
Besides, waxing a car *properly* takes hours, especially with the products recommended above... I'd rather be out driving! (I get little enough time in the car as it is) Also, without a garage, the weather needs to be right as well. Ho hum.
aha.... polar silver...
I can see the benefit of really polishing up polar silver, it'd look superb. Mine's 'aventura' green which is more like dark grey with a tint of green. Just a thorough wash leaves the car looking good - it's very stealthy as it doesn't jump out looking shiny and flash, however a closer look reveals the green metallic sparkle.
To be honest I don't have a garage and have to park in a public car park. I don't want it shining like a showroom car with the local scrotes about...
And, most importantly, I'm an extremely lazy bastard
All this is OT of course As far as the original poster is concerned, I'm not sure what Vesuvius looks like and whether it's a polish-essential colour, I will do some net searching...

You can use any good quality wax you want but it's all in the preparation, First off never wax in the sun for best results wax first thing in morning when cool (summertime)2nd clean the car well and rinse with cold water not warm. 3rd let the car dry by itself dont use a cloth, this takes time and will leave water marks but they come out bits of leather or cloth dont. 4th try and do one pannel at a time wax on wax off. 5th dont do too much or you will not be able to lift your pint. Most inportant remove any rings etc etc and use good cloth for polishing the cloth is has inportant has the wax
if you can bring your car to specialist cars of malton i will prove zymol is the best by carrying out a simple demo in front of your very eyes.
there will be many opinions on here which will be correct to there experiences with other waxes but if correctly used zymol is the only answer.

Zymol, Swissol and Victoria Wax are all high carnauba content waxes and IMHO are identical. I buy from www.victoriawax.com as they ship to UK free and it works out 30 to 40% less money than Zymol for similar sized tub. Results are incredible!

That is a very expensive outlet for Zaino, compared to the US price.
Probably because the US manufacturer is charging UK importer same price he charges US shops. Because US is so big companies there don't need to export so don't know how to. Look at their trade deficit! There's a lot of great product there but impossible to import - great to copy though!
